1989 Nissan 240 wants to race

Heres the scoop. This loser with a garbage 1989 Nissan 240 says he'll blow the doors off my 2001 civic SI. All i've got performance wise is an AEM cold air intake. Desperately seeking advise. Dont have too big a wallet...budget at about $1000. CDN. (thats bout $50 US !!!!)
Seriously, cant lose to this jerk. he's always talkin sh** bout Honda. Should I even be concerned bout his ride?

2.4-liter, 12-valve, 140-horsepower, 4-cylinder engine for the 240. I will bet on the 240 also. It may even has engine swap. GL!

If you want a chance you have to go with n2o (500US) and the rest go with a header (HP one with race cat/kamikaze one about 300US each). Remove your spare tire and leave about 1/2 to 1/4 gas in tank.

Go down to Canada East Forum to get some helps on where to get the stuff.

Don't be a wimp! The only way to find out for sure is to race him.

My friend has a 95 240 SX and it can beat the pants off my HX... but I bet it could still beat the pants off of an EX, I drove it and it handled like a boat, but had plenty of power. Lot's of torque.

U gotta find out what he's running!

Like dacivic mentioned, loose weight! apart from what was mentioned above, passenger & rear seats.

Also i need to know what kind of a race it is! You can also improve your gearing (smaller diameter/ weight wheels/ tyres) this will improve you acceleration like crazy!! (you may be able to borrow some from a friend?)

can't do much more w/ your budget.

If he's a good driver i'm betting on the 240, and u don't even know what he has under the hood. JUst cuz it's an '89 240 doesn't mean it's sh|tty.

you can do it. i had a 93 240 DOHC stick and i am confident you can hang with this 89 240 SOHC if it's stock or even lightly modded. the 240 handles very well, but the car lags on the straights because of it's weight.

yes, you should be concerned. there's two possible scenarios:

1. he's just some fgt ricer, and his car probably will fall apart in a race
2. he's got a SR20DET and some other high-dollar goodies that aren't visible except under very close inspection.

if (1), even if you win, he probably won't shut the hell up
if (2), he will own you, and he will either just consider you another "victim", or also not shut the hell up

If the car is an 89, he probably lost about 25hp, so I say you could take him with no problems.
