cougar V6, clown car escort, and "monster" toyota echo
The weather here has started to get really warm (for wisconsin) so all the "nice" cars are out. And plenty of people willing to race. The first race I had was when I was still in my civic.
I had gotten onto a two lane 50mph zone, and was being "paced" by a V6 cougar. It's not often that a V6 cougar would pick on a lowly civic DX, but I was wearing a hat, and the punk in the cougar probably felt this was an infringement on his "turf" or something. He, too, was wearing a hat, and this could easily have been the reason he wanted to race me. Right.
So he eventually stops pacing me, and then gets next to me.... revving up, slowing down, revving up, slowing down. I catch him on a time he's slowing down, and downshift to go. Catching him offgaurd (as was my plan) I'm able to get a car length or two before he can react and floor it. It was shortlived unfortunately, and he now has the pride of claiming a 117hp non-VTEC DX under his "kills" list. I'm sure I'm up there on the list along with "focus" and "vw beetle" and "honda insight".
So I have my S2000 out now (this was late last week or so) and one of the times it WASN'T raining (grrr) I had the opportunity of coming accross an exotic. You know, the auto X monster, and killer of german engineering. My car shuddered in it's exhaust wake. It was none other than.... the toyota Echo.
Hearing what a track monster this car was for a mere $3000 in mods, and knowing that since it only weighed 2000 pounds, made me scared. I've heard these things can take out a viper with merely a CAI since they are so light weight. If you have any questions about this, feel free to contact user "Echosqwat" on echofans.net.
So anyways, this particular echo actually had exhaust and a bunch of stickers. Now whether or not he actually had these parts is another story. None the less, I caught up to him and was able to initiate a little playing. I was in 3rd gear going 40mph. He went. I went. I merely stayed in 3rd gear, thinking... why waste time going to 2nd since the monster is going to waste me anyways? However, MUCH to my shock and awe (GW bush) I walked him! Whoa! From 40mph in 3rd gear. Maybe he had one of those "weak" echos. I quickly cut over and made my left turn onto a "somewhat" winding road. The echo followed, but was not able to keep up with me in the turns as I barreled through them. Yes, he must have had a "weak" echo. I mean geez, that's the only thing I can come up with. (im sure Echosqwat would agree)
Lastly, I'm going to work Sunday in my civic after putting the S2000 away again. I'm on the freeway, and I see a car PACKED with teenagers coming up behind me. It's some fat chick, and she's driving an escort full of fat friends. I mean it looked like a circus act. You know, where they pack a bunch of clowns in a tiny car. Except you have to think "fat" clowns. Anyways, it's an 80's escort, and I count SIX fatties in this thing. 3 in front and 3 in back. hehehehe. I don't know HOW they got 3 in front, considering there are only 2 seats. Then again, the 2 seat problem is the least of their amazing feat, as I'm surprised the escort can actually REACH 70mph with all of them in it. I could only laugh silently as they drove by.

lmao, i like the fatties in the car story. Always sucks when they stare at u and ur like, look the other way u hippos. Oh yea, i was driving down the ben franklin expressway toward the bridge a month or two ago and i saw a toyota echo, it had chrome! rims on it, and i pull up to check it out, and theres two black guys blasting there stock radio and dew rags, i was like, wth, lol, i laughed and got off at market st.
My fiance had and escort she blew the engine on thta sucker and got a V6 2000 Accord 4 dr. I had to drive that escort around. Althouggh I am not fat and either is my fiance. Now she has a 2k1 V6 Accord. Good things come to those who wait. But I have seen what you are talking about. When I was in high school. This girl had an old VW BUG and used to take her freinds home from school. 8 people in a bug.. and half were fat. Now that was something to see. Had hydrolics they get in it went down they get out it went up. 3 wheel motion if you didn't disperse that weight the right way
I'm impressed...
You walked an echo.
A rare thing that I've never seen done before with a Honda Civic but you know Civics... not lilght enough... not enough torque... probably wouldn't stand a chance.

i raced the echo in my S2000. lol. in case you were wondering, my sarcasm in my story was due to a particular member on the echo forums who claimed he could beat WRX's, S2k's, boxsters, and the list goes on. His echo has basically no performance mods and 3000 in suspension mods. he's a moron.
