Should I have lost?
My buddy has a 1990 integra gs with an intake and exhaust and I raced him in my gf's ex she's getting into the whole mod thing so she has i/h/e now but anyway we raced and I beat him each time by like 3/4 - 1 car length I know the specs on the 90 integras but I still thought they were a little quicker then the ex's? so was it bad driving or was it legit wins for me?

The 90 teg GS does have a little bit more power than you girlfriend vic does. But theres a lot of things that could play into the factor. How many miles are on the teg? It could be a lot of hard miles and the motor could be worn down. Also what kind of header in on your girls vic? If it a full header with exhaust and an intake, than you have a really good chance keeping up or even beating a GS teg no matter the mileage. And it could depend on drivers.
Other than that good kill.

His teg only has 144kms on it ,I don't know what that works out to in miles but it's pretty low anyway. I donno her little civic feels pretty quick for what hp it has really I've driven tegs before and they feel about the same in power to me.
And ya let me know how it goes with that race lol

Yup wear and tear comes into the picture but flyriceracer02 has a point races are mostly about driver skills then car hp if ratings are rather close it's up to the driver who will win. Good kill

I'm pretty impressed with the performance of the little 127hp these cars have I mean for what it's got it doesn't do all that bad. Like I said before I like driving her car more then my prelude maybe not for the power but they are a really nice car to drive plus they look good done up.

However, in a straight line, the only real things that can change are the launch and the shifting. Assuming no shifts are completely missed, it's more like 90% car, 10% driver.
Perhaps if the two cars are very similarly rated you may be correct- 2 different people could run the 1/4 mile in the same car and get times a half second apart, but that's all because of launching and shifting- when the drivetrain is engaged and the pedal is to the floor (the vast majority of the race) the power of the car plays 100% of the role.
Of course this doesn't take into consideration other things, such as the tires used, which can help the launch DRAMATICALLY, or the clutch used, etc. but we'll not go into it that far, assuming the cars are balanced.
But, if one car has a decided power advantage, I'm sorry, but you're only fooling yourself if you believe you can actually win just by driving better.
I'll humor you and leave you with some hope though-
I went to the track last saturday and was running 14.6-14.8 all day, and this kid in an SC2 was running 16s all day long. For one drag, we wound up lined up with eachother.
I got off to a great start, 2 second 60', then popped the clutch on my 1-2 shift too early and completely missed it, re engaged second but he had passed me and I shut down and coasted to the end of the 1/4 mile, ran a 19.1 at 47 mph. Actually, my 1/8 mile trap speed was faster than my 1/4 mile trap speed.
Long story short, the saturn driver was estatic, because his friend was taping and now he had a video of him beating an is300. He even asked for a post-race taped interview with me admitting that I lost to him, which I of course was much obliged to do.
So, if the other driver misses a shift, you have hope, but that's about your only shot.
