lmao, domestics dont have a lock on the RWD department.[hr]
i was hoping you wouldnt say anything like a neon(lol)...
as much as you talk about it, i always figured you would end up in a lightening.
out of the list you gave... the sti has the most potential IMO. it already has as much hp as the ls1's and as much tq too, and its a turbo so i think you will end up being able to modify that a little better...but im sure you knew that.

get an LS1 or LT1 if you wanna sit there and spin.

supra and the rx7 is a whole different class.[hr]

Actually... no.

The STi susposedly (not confirem) is going to have 300BHP 300 Ft Lbs.

The LS1 outclasses that in stock form, all be it not by too much. Then again, you also have 3.2 liters extra to work with over the 2.5l four the WRX comes with. Not only does this mean uber torque, the ammount of potential HP, w/ stock internals is very much on the LS1's side. True a turbo will enable me to just "turn up the boost" for easy HP gains, but in the end displacement wins.

Also all the LS1s I mentioned are NOT known for traction problems. THAT fun deal is put soely on the Supra. Its an ongoing joke that increasing HP in a supra will only increase trap speeds, but keeps the ET the same (ie 13.0@110 MPH). They truly are dyno queens.

The RX7 would have the advantage as a full on track car, completly owning all the others in the corners, and the C5 vette has the MOST power potential.

5.7L > 2.5L End of arguement.

Err, haven't you seen the 500000000 videos of LS1s pulling the front wheels?

Loyalty to Honda? Did they promise you immortality or something? Hah...

No..I do NOT hate Civics..I'm not that narrow minded as to "HATE" other makes of vehicles for no obvious reasons....
I had a 99 civic eat rod bearings on me...do I hate honda because my Civic hand-grenaded at 27,000 miles? No....
Uninformed people "hate" other car manufacturers....

Whatever drug your on...you ought to get off of it. An STI does NOT have more potential than a C5, LS1, Supra, or RX7...

Before you roll your eyes, do some reaserch son...that statement is absolutley true...wether you like it or not. Dodge started in 1984 with a hiPerformance Omni GLH (N/A 2.2L 110hp with beefed up suspension/wheels/tires) and continued in 1985 with a Turbocharged version of the same car putting down 146hp...then in 1986 released the GLH-S sitting on Koni's, Gatorbacks, putting down 175 turbocharged/intercooled HP....

How easily can you get an Ellis Juan into 10's without going FI, vs getting a WRX STi into 10's? I know there are stage kits for turbo'd WRX's. I have a friend, who thanks to AWD gets mid 11's with a stage 4 WRX... not even the STi.

food for thought. ??

I didn't know that we set limits to what modifications could be made...

I think the point was that the LS1 has more ultimate potential....which is true...I believe 11's are acheivable with a mostly stock motor (I.E. block, etc..)

I can't see it being too terribly difficult...My buddy runs 12.4's @ 110 in an 89 Mustang LX with a stock shortblock....I dont' think there is any disputing that a large displacement V-8 will always have more ultimate potential. AFAIK 10's are about the limit with a WRX as of now....

You also have to take into consideration. It is less expensive to make a vehicle such as, say, an LSI faster than a WRX....

They are both different cars, and each have their own inherant advantages and disadvantages...

good choices ......... My next car will likely be a BMW....Doubt it will be a M3 as I likely can't afford it, but I'd like a sporty 2dr Coupe....I'd love a supra or WRX but I'd pay an arm and a leg to try and get one around here .... Any type of timeline for a new car?

Edit: I was close to buying a used S2000 before the Eclipse ....$34,000 with 50,000 km's on it, but there was problems with the motor ...I'd love a new s2000 but here in Canada they run roughly around $42,000 I believe

beat me to it.

On top of that, the total cost would near double the purchase price to put an WRX into the 10s... not to say it cant be done, but for an LS1 were looking at MAYBE 5-6K with out N20 or FI.

boy have i been embarassed...or so it seems like it.

ok...

1. i said loyal to civics and neons. i didnt mean hate in terms of "hating" a neon.
2. most civic guys hate the neons because its well...instinct: you have a honda...everything else is competition.( which is not my ideals, im talking about other civic owners(around here anyway)).
3. when i was talking about supra and rx7 being in a different class, i meant RWD/TT and they're imports. RWD import and RWD domestic = 2 different class.
4. screaminDOHC: i dont know why your civic "hand-grenaded" on you at 27000 mi, but that doesnt mean it is not well built, just not well taken care of. and visa-versa for the neon. and im not saying you didnt take care of it: maybe you got a "dud".
5. agent9: is that sarcasm i sense? lol
6. NeonMike: ive seen plenty and i mean plenty of v8's sit there and spin. driver skill determines the car(IMO). and just because a car does wheelies off the line, it doesnt mean that they will all(v8's) do that.
