A good night, a good race

I raced my friend with an 01 ex with n-1 full cat-back, dc headers, and aem cai, m/t.
Keeping in mind that I am a 01 dx with tanabe and an aem cai, m/t...

We raced twice:
First time I blew him out of the hole bad and he had a good start, he finally started catching up to me around 85 +, so in a 1/4 he might have gotten me by a nose hair my friend tommy (my passenger) said (robert was alone in his ex).

Second time he had a mediocre start and I was far past him, at about 3rd gear I slowed down and followed him into a gas station.

It's been a good night.. I took an ex with more mods than me. He's my boy and all but, I gotta call a kill on that, after vtec in 2nd gear he was still just pullin on my back bumper. I am pleased with the evening. I'm ready to try a few more ex's, now i gotta find some lighter rims and maybe a cf turbo style hood semi-cheap, a good header and hi flow cat, or full race header..

MangoEX should not be trusted
Good kill. Yeah that VTEC does help at higher speeds, I was doing 110 on the freeway tonite, and I was like "damn, not bad" first time going that fast in my car. From 80 on, it does pull pretty strongly (mines an auto and it shifts WAY too early if you keep it in "D" so I put it in D3, so I can max out third gear) makes a huge difference

Thanks, Im waitin for the meet, hopefully I'll get to run some other ex's with some stuff in em...
Well, I hope I can compensate for that 80 mph+ advantage over me, I'm looking forward to shifting even faster, and that is what racing ex will do for me... I'm lookin at a comple thing for it, maybe a nx kit anfter headers and pulleys, and the new 8 lbs aluminum flywheel from unothorodox... we'll see, but I was really happy that night.. Trying to get something more into hp for the h-town meet. Thx for the info about the 80+, I was wonderin why he started gaining on me qiucker after around 70 or so, and I think he shifts maybe a little early, I've run the engine all the way to the rev limiter just to hear the sound right before so I hear when to shift...

I also have an lx with aem cai and catback exhaust, and can beat my friends ex m/t with cat back exhaust.
we have raced 6 times, 3 from a line and 3 from 50mph, I beat him from the line every time but when we drop from 50 he beats me, am I alone on this or does anyone else with and lx have no top end

good kill, buts i think its a drivers race. Lx n Ex has no big difference and with all those extra mods, he wont gain much neways. but good job anyways.

Thanks.

I raced him again last saturday from light to light and from around 40 or 50. I totally smoked him this time... lol, no contest.
I guess I got a little better, or he might have been intimidated from the sat. before. Well today I had the big resonator at the end of the tanabe replaced with a 2.25 pipe , leavfing the ?smaller resonator in the middle). I noticed a sound difference, and a nice little increase in throttle response and power from what I suspect as less drag on the exhuast velocity. I'm thinking about getting a strait pipe to replace both resonators, since I got that done for 35 at the place, he said 60 for a full 2.25 pipe from right where the tanabe goes from a 2 inch pipe just after the catalytic converter (about 2-2 1/2 inched below the cat) and turns into a 2.25, or a full 2.25 replacement if that works, I wonder how the exhuast flow velocity is affected with a 2.25 full piping.

Im in h-town, and we have a meet on the 15th of march (forums>south>houston meet....)
Or you can e-mail me at craiggodwin@swbell.net I am always open for chilling, or runnin when I am not working in the evening at my 2nd job.
If you live in h-town or close by hit up my cell, always up for meeting new poeple. 832-867-5224 , once my dsl is hooked up again aolo sn:cgodwin3103
