Escorting to an easy Win
This was a couple of weeks back................
I was leaving work this time(about 8am). I come up on a bluepurple Ford Escort with a big wing, lowered, I/H/E, rims, and a huge Super Street decal covering the rear window.
We pull up to a red light. It is the perfect spot to race. We have a dead straight away for exactly 1 mile with no traffic. We start revving on each other and then the light turns green. Both of us take of. Neither one of us spins the wheels off the start, but I quickly pull on him. When I shift to second, the tires spin a little bit and quickly I put 2, then 3 cars on him. By the time I'm to 4th gear I have a considerable 5 cars lead on him and he slowed down and gave up the chase.
It was one of the first races I ran in my civic.

Congrats.
Speaking of Escorts, a guy I work with recently bought a '94 Escort LX 2dr hatchback w/5spd. While going to work one day I ended up behind him while going down a freeway onramp. He gunned it and because of traffic he stayed ahead of me on the freeway. We both exited at the same offramp and I caught up with him. In a sarcastic tone I said that his car was pretty quick. I expected him to agree to some extent, but instead he just looked at me and shook his head while laughing. He asked me if I was serious. He told me that his Esco has no *****, and he actually gunned it because he thought that I was tailgaiting him for having accidentally cut me off earlier. As a matter of fact I wasn't tailgating him (stupid...never a good idea) and I wasn't even accelerating hard (car is still new and I'm breaking the engine in), eventhough he thought I was trying to haul *ss on to the freeway. I guess our 7th gens are intimidating to those Escort drivers! Anyways, we both got a laugh out of it. Escort vs. 7th gen Civic...please!!!
