This week my friends brother came home from Texas for the holidays, he's in the army. Anyway he has a 2001 civic lx coupe 5spd. As soon as he seen that my 02 ex is stick shift he started to show off his stuff. He's got dc short shifter, aem cai, aem pulley, cam gear, header, and full custom exhaust, and progress springs. The exhaust pipe is 3 inch from the header to the muffler. He wanted to race me. He felt very confident that he can take my stock ex. I was racing with a passanger and he was by himself. In first gear I took him off the line by about 1/2 a car. second gear he kept up and i pulled third to about 80, i had him by 1 1/2. Talk sh** now B***!!!!!!!!!!

Good Kill, Good story............but never race with a passenger, they slow you down and how bad would you feel if you got in an accident and they died.

uhm... both cars were 5 spd 
and maybe both were good drivers... afterall the EX has12 more horses... do you guys think that the guy with the LX got 12 horsepower from those above mentioned mods? According to AK and Flyby, he should of had somewhere around 5 HP with those mods... [IMG]i/expressions/laugh2.gif[/IMG] Seriously though what do you guys think?

The EX has 12 more horses at the flywheel moron. You actually think our cars put out that much? An EX runs right at about 100 - 102 whp. While the LX runs 98-100 whp. So add 5 whp to that with his mods. The LX should have won. But 66% of racing still comes down to the driver, the lauch, the weather conditions.
Maybe you should learn about our cars before you come to the plate and try to talk with the big boys about them.

and btw, a few months back someone had posted dynos of EX vs LX. I believe it was +1whp difference for the EX...so much for VTEC on our SOHC engines. (do an "archived" search. it's there)
