Help me Build my Oval Racer please!
Help me Build my Oval Racer please!
1991 SI HB d 16A6 the 4 cyl class I run in technically does not allow mods....how ever most cars are lowered....hidden engine and tranny mods are common......when they inspect...they do a quick once over....unless you are lapping cars....with that being said.....I would like to get the car to 150 180 hp range....at 6500 rpm....and of course im on a budget.......lets assume the exhaust from manifold to tail is taken care of.....2.25 front to back hollowed out cat....flow through exhaust....and intake has the bottom of the box cut clean off...and a blue shop disposable towel is the filter.....car will be lowered all around passenger side slightly more lower....and adjustable camber bal joints in the front...and adjustable side to side rear control links
biggest bang for the buck first!!!....fuel system first???....cam??? adjustable cam gear......secrets???.....unnoticble method of increased fuel pressure????.......ignition sytem ie external coil
help?
BTW we generally run in 3rd gear the entire track.....and the turns are banked.....but certainly not huge bank....asphalt track

Re: Help me Build my Oval Racer please!
is your car aready weight reduced? it won't give you more power, but it'll make the power you have more effective.
you've probabley already gutted it if you are allowed. but you could think of making vacuum formed plastic panels for the car. i'd go carbon fiber on a street car because you need the durability, but for a track car you can make your own panels out of thinner then stock plastick, that look OEM.
they're easiy to make a small one, that uses heat from your oven, if you want to do some tests. i made one in about a half hour out of scraps in my garage.
for one large enough for what you'd be forming you'd need to build something like this
