Street racing days are OVER!!!
Street racing days are OVER!!!
Well I met up with a guy who had a 2006 SS impala tonight, you can read about it in the separate thread. We decided to run a main drag that has three lanes on each side and lights throughout. We got 4 good runs and went 2 and 2, my two being contributed to crappy launches/reaction times. We decided to do a 5th as a tie breaker, but kept having trouble catching a light. We finally caught a light, it turns green, I am late again and my launch is the worst ever, he pulls three cars instantly. I am playing catch-up when I look in my rearview and see cop lights turning into the intersection we just launched from
. I let off and shift to 6th and hear that he has his sirens on. The impala pulls onto a cross road and I follow thinking he is pulling over. Well I was wrong the Impala guns in once he hits the cross road
. I pull off into a parking lot expecting the cop to give up the chase on the Impala and fry me. Well the cop pulls around the corner all four tires squealing and passes me up chasing after the Impala. So now what do I do?? Well I took the oporitunity to pull back onto the cross road and turn back towards my house on the main road, and drive the speed limit the entire way home. A couple of other cars tried to race me on the way home and I was not having anything to do with it. When I got home the guy called me and said that he finally decided to pull over and the cop actually let him off!!!!!
So I am taking this as a wake-up call it is just not worth losing my license over.

. I don't understand why you can't get over this complex that you have. You must have purchased the GTO to make up for you lack of something (talent, brains, good looks, **** size, etc.) and now knowing that a little civic can give it a run makes it feel less special. Giving up Street Racing is the part of growing up.
but just like we Start it Racing in the streets
so are kids that are growing up they just want
to do stupid things like we used to.
believe me i got experience on street Racing
i got 11 points on my licence for Runing and im the son of a detective
even that dont matter these days.
I thank you guyz for realizing the risks of street racing
is not about our lives is about others 2
when we put our lives in danger
other lives are 2.
thanks again guyz

Fun... Never street raced, never will. Dont see the point asside from compairing proverbial ***** size...
Especially since I got in to orginized motorsports... Made driving "fast" on the street even more dissapointing, as I've found that you simply cant push the car 10/10ths on the street. the grip just doesnt exzist. Bah...

I have to agree with Zzyzx, ever since i've been attenting to tracks, i learned that streets are nothing even close to a circuit or enclosed environment.
You just can't drive on the streets like the way your driving at a track, cornering at the edge of tire's limit of adhension while holding you line precisely, braking and double de-clutching while another car is breathing down you neck while not having to worry about things jumping out behind that recycling box or tree or whatever.
Knowing the fact that there's some run-offs and no objects are in the way (on some turns) in case you make a mistake allows you to push your car and youself harder and harder. Streets are streets, there's that possibility of innocent people out there no matter where on earth you're at.
That being said.. got lots more to learn form motorsports... no tracking for winter ;/ too bad there's no winter rallycrosses here , grab the suby and have fun

i wish icould go to a track but theyr in NJ ...NY i think had one but it closed down.....so where do these people want us to race....some of cant afford going to NJ whenever we feel like racing. If anyone knows any tracks in NY ill quit street racing (more of a spectator Rarely participate) and advertise to all the bad kids at these racing spot to race legal at a track.
till then ill be in that long line on the straight road near the highway
till then ill be in that long line on the straight road near the highway I have to drive 200kms to get to a nearby circuit, it isn't that far but its not close by either. If you goto local tracks organized by say car clubs, the price isn't even that high, probably cost you $100 depending on where you go.
I just did a search for you on NY, there's 3 road/street courses. one is closed like you said and there's two more near upper state of NY. They will probably be close for winter tho just like us in Toronto.

Ok, were you expecting to find something in your back yard or down the street?
The nearest affordable race track here in Las Vegas is an almost a two hour drive away. But I gladly drive it, knowing that I get to toss my car around a race track for the day once I'm there.
Buttonwillow is a good five hours and is well worth it, both for "streets" as well as the big course.. but the big course can some times feel booring in my Wonder civic.... putt putt putt.... too many long straights, not enough turns

Two things need to happen before my next outting.
1. New Tires
and
2. Finish those dam camber/caster plates.... one of the bearings on the OEM setup has finally destroyed its self and I really need to get something in there before the constant clicking/creaking drives me nuts...

got 18pnts & $600 ticket just have'n fun by myself (53mph over posted limit) ever since then I drive "normal" 90% of the time. but every once in a while i have some fun (or when I get road rage)
