1st time to drag strip
So i went to the track for the first time last night and i pretty much sucked. there were many nice cars, about 100 imports in all. Fastest honda there was a civic hatch running low 13's. Everyone runs a little slow at this track tho. they have like a correctional thing or adjustment for times on there website to compensate. I ran a unadjusted 17.730 at 79.14 as my best run. The wheel hop was really bad, and i just couldn't get off the line right. I only had time for a few runs. My Reaction time was 1.** Ill post up the times and slip in the section when i get home. Oh yeah and the track was LA CR, elevation 2800, temp about 80.
I'll probably be going back next week so if u guys could give me any tips that would be great.
Heres my mods list;
2001 civic ex
-Aem v2 intake
-greddy evo 2
-dc sports full race header (no cat)
-exedy stage 1 clutch
-act street light fly wheel
-revo short shift kit
-17" tenzo rims (too big...)
-kumho ecsta tires.
-Lowered with eibach sportline]\
-dc sports front strut bar.
Weight reduction; no seats except mine, all audio equipment out.

wow thats any extremely slow time for what you have. Motor mount inserts are sure to help you alot, and best thing to do is get rid of the rims. What are your 60ft times looking like?

yeah i no it is way slow i'm wondering if there;s somethin wrong with my car and its down on power or if i just suck at driving. 60 ft was a 2.635 (ouch). Maybe i should get it dynoed to make sure its not makin like 80 hp and runnin on 3 cylinders lol.

You should be able to cut a 2.4 60' or better.
I want to see what your 330 and 1000-ft times are. Just go ahead and post your whole slip !
If you're auto, then these times make a lot of sense. Sorry, but automatic transmissions really suck power from small-displacement motors. If you were a GTO, then the difference between auto/manual would be non-existant.

I'll keep you posted on my 15 tonight, did some ECU tuning earlier this week for pump94. If I am going to pull it off, tonight is the night.
This is a LX motor too btw..

post the numbers from the slip. lacr will reduce NA times quite a bit but I believe there is a good amount of driving skill to be improved upon. simple things like shifting right at red line, not bogging at the line, and nice quick shifts make a huge difference.

Definitley a power issue.
I'd get a tune-up (switch spark plugs, fuel filter, check timing, change oil, fuel injector cleaner, etc...) and try again. Something just doesn't seem right. Civics might be slow, but they shouldn't be that slow.
Perhaps it was just an off night. Those happen too.

yeah, spark plugs were recently changed, same with oil. I'll probably do fuel filter this weekend. How do u check the timing? What else could be wrong or need tuned up?
i doubt ur timing is off..ur cars still new....u basically got the basics down for a tuneup. oil,oil filter, sparkplugs, air filter, injectors...i did a tuneup and it felt more smooth. saw my airfilter...and damn that thing was black..but yeah jus go to the track more if u want better times...cant really practice on street cuz its totally different
