met an 05+ mustang (V6)
was driving home after a late night of work, when a black mustang with 30 day tags came whizzing around. he was smoking the tires leaving pretty much every traffic light (manual trans.), racing himself for the longest time. i was driving my 5-10 over and he was seemingly glued to my side for about 30 blocks. as we came upon the traffic camera, i slowed to 5 over so as not to get a ticket, and the mustang kept going about 10 over. a nissan murano flies up passing me and barely passing the 'stang, then slams on the brakes letting the mustang pass him again. camera nails the mustang, who was barely speeding at this point, but clearly deserved the $100-200 ticket anyways
about 40 blocks later, i was nearing where i had to exit the road, but there was finally a traffic light that was empty and red. we lined up, but nothing had a chance to happen as the next light was red (he did realize that i wanted to play at this point, fair start). i'm still on snow tires, which help my gearing but make full throttle traction elusive for first gear. we then get another light down the road, exchange revs, and wait.
i actually got the jump, snow tires and all, but lost it since i was slipping through all of first and his hooked up about 10mph. i redlined 2nd gear and hit the limiter before shifting, giving him a 1/2 car, but it was a moot point as we had hit some traffic at this point. he had to hit the brakes to get behind me to avoid rearending the person in his lane that was getting closer and closer, with him unable to pull on me. a fun run, road situations prevented any communication post race, and he turned off a couple blocks later.

I'm surprised you didn't smoke him. Those V6 Mustangs are slow and heavy...
funny story though... i hope he gets busted by that traffic cam

yeah i didn't know at the time, but the new ones have the explorer motor in them.
flywheel comparison, that means he had a 99 ft/lb advantage in torque, which definitely helps move that car. they're good for lower 15's, supposedly. beats the mid 16's that previous gens would make, which is why i thought it was post worthy.
as i hinted at, neither of us was having much success driving our cars that night, but it was a fun exchange.

snow tire > you
Nice race. Surprise me he still wanted to race considering his camera shot, maybe he didn't even realize it.

EDIT: the ford website said nothing about the 3.0 v6. only the 4.0 with 210 hp and the 4.6 v8 with 300hp.

the little information i find puts them at around 15.3. this could very well just be calculators and guesses, since most mustang test drives were probably with the GT. no need to make excuses for him sucking, it could go both ways.
you should know by now that nobody gives credit for good kills anymore ... which is why I stopped posting kills.
if there is ever a good race posted, most people come in and say the other driver sucked. yay.

I'm not tryin to discredit your kill or anything, but i'm a passionate mustang owner, and am very dissapointed with the 05 mustangs, especially the gt's. The gt's only run low 14's, maybe high 13's, with an unbelievable driver, and thats with 300hp. The insane curb weight and difficult, sensitive computers are just some of the problems. And then the same car having 100 less hp and who knows how much less tq.

hell i would like to hear you kills.
I remember when I posted a few stories up back in the days of my turbo ... when I ran even with several different stock STi's at different times and even with an E46 M3. Nobody believed me and I got flamed ...
same when I semi-recently posted up a race where I went even with another STi ... but with my swap.
I don't think it would be a driver's race with doubledeuce and a stock 05 v6 stang ... dub's car is easily a 14 second car ... something that a stock 05 v6 cannot achieve.

Normally a 14 second car, but he has snow tires on which means lots of slip. So I would say given that the Rustang has decent tires and traction, I would say they are probably equal, and probably a drivers race. considering they never really got to open it up.

you don't drop from a 14 second car to a mid 15 just because you have snow tires.

True, but your 0-60 times suffer, and that was basically what they where doing.
First off... nice run.
You're correct, the new '05+ V6's can do low 15's. In fact, the 5-speeds are capable of high 14's. I know of a bone stock AUTO that went 15.0.
However, the 99-04's aren't as slow as everyone seems to think. Mid-16's could certainly happen if you're in an Auto with sub-par conditions or driver, but my stock '00 5-speed V6 went 15.5@90 even with a crappy 2.331 60' my first time to the track.
I'm not a big '05+ fan myself. In fact, I'd take a clean '93 Calypso Notch over an '05 GT in a heartbeat, but the GT's aren't as slow as you suggest. Plenty of auto's have gone well into the 13's stock... even Motor Trend went 13.6, and we all know how good they are. In addition, the manuals are still faster, and a few have gone as fast as 13.3-13.4 stock... Motor Trend went 13.5. Again, I have no special feelings for most '05's, but they're actually pretty quick.
Back on topic, nice run, again.

I have a mustang gt, I have done burnouts with it, all you have to do is turn off the traction control.
