my buddy's d16 V. my d17

both vtecs.. my car has aem cai, header/full exhaust

his car: aem cai

1st was pretty even.. i hit 2nd later than he did.. and i was ahead.. when i hit 2nd i pulled even farther -- looking at the nose of his car it looked like i got a hell of a jump when i ripped it into gear.. in 3rd i pulled on him and finished about 4 or 5 car lengths ahead.

we raced twice.. same results 2nd time also.

i was pretty happy about this even tho his car is nearly stock.. it just says how much exhaust does compared to a stock civ..

btw hes a good driver (actually owns a 240sx, but it was his cousin's civ so we decided to run the hell out of it)

last thing... d16s vtec=sounds a lot shweeeeter than ours

good job! When I had my vic, I pulled on a 6th gen EX also. And yes, I am not 100% sure, but on the D16Y8 and D16Z6, they had more of a proper with variable intake timing... so cars with intakes on D16Y8/Z6 benefit quite well.

You must be comparing an EK coupe to a 7thgen sedan or somehting, because my old 7thgen coupe was rather uncomfortable, but that just ment I didn't drive for lunch

still man our car is definitely bigger than past gen civics. I sat in the back of one and didn't feel as squished as i did in the back of a 98 accord lx-i or my 03 RSX.

Oh yeah, no doubt our each generation of civics has gotten larger, but I still think the coupe is a leg killer in the back.

i have raced several 6thgen dseries as well and was very sucessful in embaressing the owner. the 1.7 is a strong motor for its size. but the is due the the factory tuning honda did on our cars. that is why we dont see as large of an increase with our aftermarket performance products. they did good for a factory motor but scredew us for performance upgrades

i have a 7th gen lx. and at the track i beat a 6th gen ex.
both cars where stock i ran 17.685 and he ran 17.776. (both stick)
i tought i was good but i guess the 7th gen are suppose to be faster.

I'd be upset if I lost to any civic 6th or 5th gen civic with a D series engine. Ive raced a bunch and none have even come close with just bolt ons.
