D16 or D17?
Hi! I'm situated in the philippines and I was wonderinghow would I know whether our 2k1 civic has a D16 or a D17 engine? I tried searching the world websites and I found out that all the 2k1's around the world have the D17 engine on their civics so I was wondering how come here (Phils.) it is posted to have 1598cc?
Thanks for your replies.

Thanks. By the way does your D17 have 2 solenoid wires too? I mean The company here claims that It has 3 stages of VTEC so it's the same engine right? and about the Pistons shape? is it round? or oval?
Thanks

The 7th gen is a d171 for the non v-te and a d17a2 for the v-tec. I still think that all 7th gens are 3 stage v-yecs but Honda just isn't saying it here in the states.
OK, your gonna confuse the kid. You have a D16 in the Philipines. 1598cc = 1.6 litre, hence the D16 because it is a D block. If I'm not mistaken, the Civics made in Mexico still use the old B16 engine, maybe it's the same in the Philipines.
You mean In Mexico their 7th gen civic can be fitted with a B16? I thought that the Engine supports are not the same position? I mean the old B16 block has It's supports near the fire wall right? while the D17 has it's support near the bumper side right?
AS for the Pistons... I really have no Idea if it's oval or round. did anyone open up their engines?
