Ok i'm going to get pounded for this one but, heres the story drivin around town bein a little rice boy. Reved the ol vtec up at a conv, mustang. He fallows me to the highway and we catch a light, I say man theres no point in this i only got 1.7 liters, he says seriosly this is the slowest mustang on the planet, . the light turns, he was an AT and he didnt have it tourq'd up so i launched hard around 4 grand and got a hella jump, i'm laughin expectin the mustang to go screaming by, but before i know it i'm near the top of second,(74) <<<<Yes I have FAR DIFFERENT gear ratios on the HX 5 speed tranny>>> i get into 3rd and he is dead beside me, we go to 95 or so and we let off with him maybe a bumper ahead, i'm not sayin the HX is fast i'm sayin that the mustang was SLOW....

Any 1996-1998 mustang gt is slow as hell. The heads and intake manifold on them aren't up to par with the 99-04. If it had been a 99-04 mustang, he would have walked you if it were a coupe, now convertible is about a 14.4-.8 second car in the 99-04. 96-98 the convertible automatic is the slowest. So lets say, around 15.5 second car for him.

yeah my brother has a 99 35th aniversary edition. black on black leather convertible 4.6l gt motor. its not as fast as youd expect but it would definately hand my civic its azz and i have a more mods than you.

I had a 95 mustang gt auto with mac shorty headers, 3.73 gears, K&N Filter, flowmasters, H- pipe,w/advanced timing a ran a best of 14.5 @ 95.8 MPH with a 2.1 60ft. When My friend had the car before me it ran 15.1 with flowmasters and k&N Filter. Granted my car was the 5.0. 96-98 mustang 4.6 convertables AODE were slow. I say 15.5 I perfect running condition. My best friend has a 98 Gt Auto convertable w/ exhaust, K&N Filter With h flow cats and he ran 14.8 somthing.

a 96 auto mustang GT will put down 180-190 rwhp on a good day... and i think it weighs about 3700lbs being a convertible(w/o driver). definitely not one of your faster stangs. no flaming here... and i'm a mustang guy!

People who buy V6 auto Mustangs don't generally race them because they should already know their car is slow. But on the other hand, people don't generally buy Civics to race them either.
