Launch technique!!!
Launch technique!!!
I have some problems when I luanch my car in 1/4 mile run.
I will apreciate if you can say me what is the best form or technique to luanch my civic and kick some butts.
Civic 2003, EX, AEM V2. 215/40/17 dunlop, treadware 200.

My technique: Pre-rev to 4500 rpms.. when third yellow comes drop the clutch ( gas pedal at same position) once you feel you have traction. Then hit the gas all down. You shouldn't peel out too bad. Just a little. plus you'll have a .5-.59 reaction time.
well the track and street r really different. On the street i launch around 3500 and get alot of cars i race off the line, but at the track when i launched with nitrous it just spun my tires, ^ he is right though. Just partial gas off the line then wot when u get traction.
yep i launch at 4500-5000 with stock wheels and tires, they are pretty good, some wheel spin but not enough to make me fvck up the launch. you just have to take it to the track (try to keep it off the streets) and find your launch technique
I try some of what I read here. And a friend help me to.
4500 rpm, then let off de clutch and when i got traction I put the gas on the floor.
I won the 90% of the times.
But O see another guy in a civic 98 ex, he lauch his car at lower rpms an thy win to many races in the line. I like this kind of lauch, I will try the next time

and all this high rev launching will get you a new clutch faster. lol. i launch at 3k maybe. but i don't street race so i guess i can't talk about it. hmm. still, needing a new clutch sucks unless your trying for a better one.

Take it from me I used to cut some pretty good 60fts in my civic but I believe my clutch payed the price in the end. Once I put the N20 on it was the nail in the coffin. Anyway I used to launch at 5k on Drs and around 4k on street tires. 2.07 was my best on DRs and I managed a 2.1 on street tires once, but I consistantly pulled 2.260fts. Heres what I did...
Stage car rev up between 4-5k at partial throttle, when light turns apply throttle feather the clutch until u feel the wheels grip then release clutch and apply full throttle, make sure your shifts are quick and precise as well.
I might make a couple passes this fri in the S2k. So I will be learning all over again myself. Good luck.

only way I've tried launching my auto is by dropping from neutral to D then flooring it...anything else puts hella stress on the mounts from what I understand...I just wait for that lil click from the shifter to connect and floor it...if I do it to soon I get that lurch from the tranny.....

dont know if anyone has tried but pulling the e-brake up and rev to where u launch and slowly slip the clutch out then pull the e-brake out. I been praticing it and feels much better.

How does shifting from Neutral to Drive w/o revving hurt the motor?<<J/W if you're revving in an auto while in neutral then dropping it into drive while revving thats where the problem happens that i stated motor and tranny mounts....

I'm sorry, I seem to recall the title of this thread to be "launch technique" not "autos go else where this is a manual thread." Please, either change the title to this misleading thread or get over your self and let all launch techniques be told.
step on the break and gas in the same time and when you ready to go just let go of the break.
you could nuetral drop. REV it up to 3k and drop it to D3 or whatever. but i wouldnt do that too much. you can say bye bye to your trans. if you do.

jw, what exactly is the point if youre going to shift from N to D without revving? why not just keep it in Drive?
