messed around with a Scion TC today

Well I have raced an auto TC before and won without much trouble, but I have always wondered about how I would do against a 5spd. So I finally got my answer. I pulled up to a light next to some type of Nissan I think (was not really paying much attention to it) a TC then pulls up behind me. Well the light turns and the Nissan takes off tires squealing (as good as a auto could do). So I figure what the heck I step on it (no launch) and the Nissan never gets any further than 1/2 car before I proceed to hand him his ***. The funny thing is I look back and the TC is right behind me. By about 80 or so I have 7 or 8 cars on the Nissan and 2-3 on the TC (I started 1 car ahead and I think that he got a late start). Well we are coming up to a corner so I begining to slow down, and head into the inside lane but the TC goes around me. The thing is I am by no means pushing the limits of my car, but if I was on the line that he was taking I think that I would be close. I know that my car will out handle a stock Scion any day so I anxiously watch in my rearview mirror awaiting the inevitable. I did not see it, but I heard his tires break lose and then I saw him slow down and drop back fast LOL. So we get into traffic and I slow down and start talking with him, I told him that I though he was going to wreck and he said that he thought he was going to wreck . The funny thing is he had his gf in the car, she did not seem to mind though. So we get a slight break in traffic and I hear him drop into second so I do the same and wait until he starts to go (figure I got the jump the first time) and then I go. By the time I shifted into third we had to slow because of traffic ahead, but I managed to pull about a fender on him. We rolled next to each other and talked a bit, but did not race again (traffic was to thick) and then parted ways. All and all I would say that from my experience today that I think my car may be slightly faster than a stock TC. Either way it would be a complete drivers race.

yes, I have raced an auto and it is not even close. This guy was a 5spd I heard him shift and confirmed it with him. I am not stock, and would say that it would be a drivers race advantage my car if any car.

ok if you were both stock and started from a stop, assuming you have the ex, would it be a drivers race or would the TC have the advantage from the more power. or would the civic have the advantage cause of fact that it weighs 300 pounds less. drivers race?? both in this thought are manual tranny.

No it would be a TC advantage, but I would beat a stock EXs by atleast 3-5 cars in 1/4

with your mods? 3 cars is a stretch, given equal drivers.

so is a stock tc a little quicker than a stock civic? Does the tc's extra weight hurt it that much?

Honestly. 3 car lengths at the end of a 1/4 mile is close to 2 seconds faster.

I have raced enough to know that by 80 they are a good ways back (atleast 3 cars). Alot even give up before 80. You have to think I can shift faster becuase of the SS, and the quick engaging clutch, I weight atleast 50lbs less, I have stickier tires for a better launch, the engine mounts have made a huge difference on the launch and 2nd gear shift, and yes the I/H/E has given me some power (maybe not alot, but still some). The only thing that I have gone against me is my rpms drop alot faster becuase of the flywheel. So yes atleast 3-5 cars (granted it is tough to tell with compleate accuracy by looking in the rearview)

I mean you say 6 cars with your mods and I don't question that because I trust that you know that from experiance. It would be nice if you did the same I mean I am the one that does drive the car day in and day out. It is not like I said 3-5 bus lenghts

run at the track. then you can come back and tell me how many cars you can put on a stock civic. 3 cars would mean you are capable of a 15.5, which is also what you'd need to run to be even or barely take out a stock tC. get some timeslips.

i dont say 6 cars with my mods for no reason. i've run at the track, shown faster ET and trap speeds, as well as posted video.

not saying this race didn't happen, but you should keep these things in mind before you go starting trouble with more tC's or continuing to make claims without timeslips to back them up.

hell, even I myself won't be happy til I have a 13.4 timeslip in my hand. while my traps have gone up to 103-104, my best ET so far is a 13.6. however, other 4.57 geared S2000's have run 13.3-13.4, so I know the capability is there.

The thing that you need to understand S2k is that I am not some jackass. I know what my car is capable of and yes I am betting 15.5-15.8 would be about right (3 car lead in a 1/4) will I ever take it to the track I don't know nor car, but I am telling you that I am as fast/faster. I would not be so confident if it was from a dig, but it was a 2nd gear roll (no skill on either part) and I pulled. So I say even (maybe second is not a TCs gear) or slight advantage to my car. And keep in mind that we are talking about the street not once have I mentioned the strip

A race between a manual tranny TC vs a manual civic EX with I/H/E is a drivers race. Stock Vs. Stock the TC just rapes it. Before I went turbo, i raced my friends EX with headers about 4-5 times and destroyed him many many times, and not by just a little, but by a few car lengths. He's a good driver, in fact he taught me how to drive stick, so he had the drivers advantage.

And by my comment im not implying that your BSing about beating that particular TC, cuz its possible. I beat a porche carrera type S, on 8psi by about 2 car lengths, which sounds like some serious BS, but not everyone in a car knowns how to drive it the way it could be driven.

Yes I would agree that stock vs stock in most cases the civic would not win. I would expect it to be very similar to the manner that I have beaten stock civics.
