i am still a probe magnet (and a GTP too)

Today, had a red ford probe zippin around through traffic. When he went by me, however, I heard a BOV. Turbo... could be a challenge!

Even though I just filled up at like $3.17 a gallon, I found myself catching up to the little probe ahead. Other than the exhaust it looked stock. Even had rust on it and all! (don't all sleepers have rust on them?)

I'm behind him at a light and he takes off briskly. I move next to him and downshift to 2nd. He downshifts, and he looks over. I nod, to tell him to go, and the second he floors it, I lay on the gas.

From 30mph we are even til about 50. At the top of 2nd I start pulling on him. Into 3rd and I'm pulling much stronger now. By the time we get to 100 where I shut down, I have about 4-5 cars on him. Afterwards, I'm next to him and I asked him what he had. He said something about an engine swap and 17psi, turboback exhaust, etc. He gave me a funny look when I said I had a gearset/gears, but oh well. The guy was actually pretty cool.

Then I'm on my way home, and there is a GTP next to me. The guy suddenly zips up and cuts me off. Maybe this was his way of initiating a race? Meh. So anyways, I'm behind him for a while, though he's making some dumb moves through traffic, so I linger back aways.

Eventually I get a light with him, and I look over. He's not even looking at me, just sitting there smoking his cig. Light turns and I start to go, but he doesn't, so I let off. THEN he floors it, tires squeaking and all. Great ricer start, asshat.

Even with his jump lead, I floor it, and stay even with him. 2nd gear I start to pull, and 3rd gear I'm pulling even more. I throw the hazards on at 80mph with about 3 cars on him, and he does a flyby and keeps going. I guess he wants to race himself to his top speed.

I am guessing the probe was a SE and not a GT? GTs have V-6s that are capable of low 15s stock and I can't emagine what he would have swapped in place, besides it would have had to have been a twin turbo then and I am guessing that it was not. SEs had the crappy 4cyl, but I am pretty sure that the 240sx engine will swap into it and that would boost well.

It was a GT. And why does it have to be a twin turbo?

show me a single turbo kit for a 6 cyl probe GT. What else would he have swapped that would A not be dumb to swap (loss of hp) and B not have been faster than your car with 17lbs??

jesus this is two threads today you have cluttered up with your crap arguments.

oh look at that, it's a single turbo setup for a V6 probe with a T3 exhaust housing and T4 compressor housing.

And secondly, a common swap is the KLZE mazda engine which can also be turbo'd (with a single turbo kit none the less). If the guy was untuned or running low boost, then yes my car would still be faster. On 17psi this engine would likely be faster, so it's doubtful this is what he had.

OR another swap that is done is the 2.2 liter SOHC turbo mazda engine, which could be upgraded to run higher boost. 13.9 is a fairly common time with this swap at 15psi.

yuop the KLZE engine is a very popular swap into probes and MX-3/6's my friend has a turbo KLZE mx-3 running on 11psi with the stock internals. And its pretty damn fasts.
