Lotus Elise
So a couple weeks ago, before I blew my hg, i saw this Lotus Elise drving around. It made a left onto a street by the police station, so I made a right to get onto the same street. I pull up next to him and stare at his nice *** car. We pull up to a red light both in the front of the line, and I say, "Thats a sick ride." His friend was like, "Don't make his head any bigger than it already is", in a laughy voice. I just sort of laugh and look forward. The light changes to green. We both take off a little slow, than he guns it at about 15mph. Being in 1st gear already, it didnt take long for my speedo to hit 30 peeling out. I was at 9psi instantly. I flew by him by the time I was halfway through second. By the time I hit third at about 70, I had 2-3 car lengths on him (the lotus size carlengths). I slow down and he slows down, I make a right turn. Both of them are just staring with their mouths dropped. haha. He felt so bad, especially after ruining his midlife crisis toy.
I love making people feel like their car isnt as fast as they think or as nice, especially when I drive a vic.
Well, a Mazda6 or nicer car soon!!!!

^^ ya, your looking at a car thats only pushing little more the 10 LBS per HP..... where as the lil civic (stock) is pushing some where around 20 LBS per Hp... Given that, you'd have to just about Double the power on the civic to keep up (Some where around 250 HP). But this is all Very un scientific.... not all that accurate, just a more visual compairson.

I remember seeing this Top Gear video where the host put the elise on a racetrack and asked an army pilot in his apache helicopter (top of the line stuff here.. ) to TRY to get a missile lock on the car, while he's evading it. Guess what : it can't be done. The car is so nimble, imagine a gazelle running for its life, just hopping around faster than you can move your eyes.

in that video they showed at the end that at the proper dystance (a couple of miles out) it took less then 3 seconds to get a lock.....[boom]

well in that top gear film they said they would just use the gun to rip him apart...
Anyways being the military buff I am, a Little bird or a Super Cobra would have far less trouble getting a lock on the little thing

The 04/05 Matrix XRS and 05 Corolla XRS 2ZZ-GE engine has been detuned to deliver more midrange torque as compared to the 03 Matrix XRS/Celica GT-S 2ZZ-GE version.
As a result the re-tuned 2ZZ-GE(for the 04/05 Matrix XRS, 05 Corolla XRS) engine achieves 127 ft lbs of torque @ 4400 rpm, as opposed to 130 ft lbs of torque @ 6800 rpm in Celica GT-S/03 Matrix XRS 2ZZ-GE.
Now, the Lotus has the same newly retuned 2ZZ-GE motor. But it makes the 190 hp and the 139 ft lbs. Only downfall, the torque is at 6800rpm, not the 4400rpm like the Corolla and the Matrix.
So yes indeedy...the Corolla XRS and the Lotus Elise share the SAME motor...just a differet ECU.

Oh, we also share the same tranny.

^^ actually for best performance, you want your torque to peak at a high RPM rather then a low RPM because then you can take advantage of gearing.

I forgot I started this thread, lol. The guy driving and his passenger were about 500lbs together as well, 50y.o guys with a big *** belly, ya know. lol
Those things are quick, and he was racing. I dont think he knows how to drive for one. I know they are 13 sec cars. My car hauls ***, but am lucky for high 13s at 10psi. If they only have 130-140ft lb, than I could easily take them, considering my tq is probably in the 200-220range. I wish I got a full pull on the dyno before I decided to say screw my car.
