the little EVO that couldn't
Coming up to a stoplight earlier today, I saw a blue EVO sitting in the right lane behind a car that was on the line. There was also a car in front of me, so of course no chance for a race. However, sometimes people like to try to "ricer race" in such conditions, so I try to avoid doing anything to instigate a race when this happens.
There is a guy driving and a guy for a passenger as well. I took a glance out of the corner of my eye at them as I pulled up, and what I saw made me start to laugh. I think they take this as if I'm laughing at his EVO. But, the true reason for the hilarity is this:
I think the driver saw me coming up in his sideview mirror, and probably mentioned something about seeing my car approaching, and said something to his friend. So as I glance over, I see the passenger leaning over the driver far enough that it looked like his hand was on the driver's nuts, and he'd just finished giving him road head. Not to mention the fact that the driver was kinda leaning back almost looking "satisfied". It was funny as hell, and so I started laughing.
Well, he took this as some form of "challenge" I guess. The light turns, and the 2 cars in front of us start to go. He accelerates right away, right to the bumper of the car in front of him. I don't look over, and merely accelerate like normal keeping some distance.
The car in front of me then turns into a left turn lane, and the EVO zips up and moves in ahead of me. I am behind him through the next light, and eventually we are around traffic, so I move over to get next to him. We are coming up on a light that is red, however, I think it may turn green before we get a chance to stop. I put the car into 1st, and we slow down. 20mph. 15mph. And the light turns green. Immediately I hear his revs jump as he slams into 1st gear to take off. I dump the clutch and floor it as well.
through 1st gear I pull maybe a half a car. Through 2nd I'm starting to slowly walk away from him. Into 3rd, and now I'm pulling even more. Shut down at 80mph and he's maybe 4 cars back. After that, he drives by and I give a thumbs up. His friend flips me off instead.

Rep Power: 400 yeah, from a stop, if they do a full-out launch, i wouldn't have a chance.
but, FWIW, when i was stock, the EVO would pull on me in the lower speed area (below 70mph), so I was happy with the outcome.

He could have beat you with upgraded turbo at high boost!!!

Man that is a good kill, probably up there with all timers, eh. I think s2000 and evos are my favorite cars, and sti as well, atleast cars that i will probably be able to own. I would have to say if someone told me they would give me one of those for free, i would have to literally flip a coin. I know they re different types of cars in different classes, but bang for your buck wise, i think they are probably the top three IMO.

Friday i had a STI with work done to it with 2 **** that wanted to be like the Staten Kids mess with me on my way from from work. i wish i had a fast car then so i could have **** on them.

Rep Power: 400 I have intake, header, and 4.57 final drive gear in a comptech reinforced diff.
And it would not take an upgraded turbo to beat an S2000 or to even beat me. EVO's can get things like ECU reflashes, and crank up the boost, cams, etc, and it's over. Doesn't take much in mods to put out more power.

this is tru about the EVO, that is why i will be getting rid of the civic, and buying a new EVO.
I know about not needing upgrade turbo, it was an inside joke. Yeah with the ems you can actually gain 9hp by turning boost down and fine tuning fuel. The boost was only turned down .01 bar though lol!
Get the mr version with stock black bbs rims, it is my desktop pic, i am so jealous. The 2006 IX will be the last true lancer in my opinion, have you seen what mitsubishi has planned to do witht he evo 10?

s2000s are right in there, and s2kmans is not stock, i think it was the fact that it was from a roll, like he said. Evo could not take advantage of its amazing traction.
Its not like your friend does that every time, or maybe he does i dont know him LOL.

Nah i do not want the MR. i I want the Evo in White with the leather, sunroof, and HID package. i want to get my own pick of rims. im looking at volks.

a stock EVO can run 13.0 but that's with the AWD launch. since he had no launch i've taken away an advantage of his. and from the roll, with my mods, my car was just quicker. driver wouldn't have made a difference.

hes gotten the car to 13.1 before(powershifting) but his average is 13.4. An evo is alot faster than an s2000 unless you start doing heavy mods to them
also the evo awd launch isnt its only key unlike the wrx STI the gearing is aimed more top end, which produces better power at higher speeds. Evos usually dont really let go until around 120mph than you will feel them start to boggle.
I have to say still this guy was a crappy driver, or average driver against someone whos not your average driver.
