Nice kill. Funny thing is that i raced a blue evo on friday night too. We ran it twice, 1st time from a 2nd gear roll which i beat him by a car length, 2nd time from a stop which he raped me. Oh forgot to mention that i have a 2005 scion TC. He was in his car alone and i had two passengers in the car, so maybe i coulda done better on the 2nd race. Evo's are nice cars, gotta love em.

"Why turbo a tC, when you can just buy a factory turbo car? Now you have no warranty and the cops can harrass you for a HUGE *** illegal mod! "
Lets see, lets name a few factory turbo cars:
EvoVIII, WRX, Audi 1.8T, VW bug, SRT4, Saab
Out of all those cars, the only affordable one is an SRT4 at like $22,000. Then lets say you want to upgrade the rims, and lower it. Thats another like $2,500. So were looking at $24,500 to have an SRT-4 with stock engine, and some dress up which still doesn't look good, and only puts down around 220whp, not to mention its a dodge neon, that will have several problems in the future, and will have a horrible re-sale value.
On the other hand, you go to the dealer, buy a Scion TC for $16,500, you throw some rims with some stickier tires ($1600) , lower it ($200), upgrade the clutch/flywheel ($600), throw on a turbo kit ($3500) and ur done. You do all this and only spend $22,400 which is about the same price as a stock SRT-4. You throw down around 300+whp, have a reliable car, and look WAY nicer than an SRT-4 will ever. So at the end of the day you save a few grand, and have a way nicer car.

I'd have to agree with you there. But Horror, I'm suprised you say that when all of us on this forum are boosting. Well not all but some lol. Plus, perhaps his car was givin to him as a gift LOL. And then you've got to look at the fact that there are uite alot of cars that don't come boosted from the factory, but after you boost them its just as reliable (sc300's and the 2jz-ge come to mind). Sorry to rant, I've just heard alot of people recently say why not just go buy a turbo car from the factory. I, myself, would like to build a lower car up, and not just go and buy a car that came boosted and when you put on an exhaust it gives you like 1 million horsepower. But it really comes down to I rag on them because I can't afford them lol.
The best feeling is pulling to a red light next to a guy riding with his GF in a big boy ( expensive sports coupes that cost 4x more than my car: g35, 350z, porche boxter, or just str8 up known pretty fast cars: evo VIII, STI, SRT-4) and reving at em, having them laugh at you cuz they think ur just a 140whp scion, and embarassing them to the point where they turn at the next light just so they arent seen by you again. I live to embarrass rich guys who dont know **** about cars who just spend their money on the known "FAST" cars and think their hot **** and try to show off for their GF in the passenger seat. Its a feeling like no other :P

Just how reliable are Scions with boost?? The thing is IMO not matter what car you boost if it is not factory you increase the odds of having major problems. It takes more maintanace and makes the car much more ambient air temp. sensative. I am not saying that everyone will have problems. Doing it the right way does decrease the odds, but there still is a chance for problems. Now I have heard alot of people say that Scions have had very few problems on boost, but there are simply to few boosted and they are to new of a car to know for sure. To exemplify my point boost for 7thgens use to be the greatest thing ever, but now look at how many there are forsale and how many problems some people have had. I say give it some time and the boosted Scion will be the same way. Nothing against the newb with the Scion I am sure it is a bad *** car (and you could afford to blow an engine or two to make up for the difference in cost for compeating cars LOL.)

Myth.
You are buying into the popular myth that drive train loss puts AWD cars at a disadvantage from a roll. In fact its been proven time and time again, an AWD car such as a WRX will be just as fast from a roll as a fwd or RWD car with equal weight/power/gearing.
People who don’t know too much about this base their assumptions on dyno figures. AWD dynos always show really low because the power is being distributed over a greater area. This means you need to look at the figures with a sliding scale when comparing them to 2WD cars.
Sorry, but this assumption of yours is incorrect.

A WRX can run about a 14.0 or so stock. from a roll, however, it would lose to a RWD or FWD 14.1 second car. you can tell this by trap speed. while they run a 14.0 or so, they do so running about a 96mph trap.
same with the EVO. the EVO can run 13.0, but their trap is only about 104-105 at best. while most RWD cars that run 13.0 are in the 107-109 range. what does this equate to?
an example. from a stop, the EVO and M3 are about as even as you can get. both run about a 13.0 at best stock. from a roll? an M3 will walk an EVO like a dog. why? because the EVO has lost its AWD launch advantage.

Hmmmmmmm, so NA your telling me that there AWD platform that has a hell of a lot more moving parts than a said RWD platform is not decreasing drivetrain power?

i dont know enough about dyno'ing AWD vehicles to comment on drive train loss. joe, have you ever talked to church about it?
actually church is one of the few tuners I know that has an AWD dyno. Now I am extrapolating from what people like him (not him) have said when they tell me that a (for example) 175WHP AWD car is about the same "power to the ground" wise as say... a 190-195WHP FWD or RWD car.
