redneck in his GT and me in my EP3

so last night I was crusing home from my friends house around 12:30 in the Si, and i had noticed that there was a pair of those infamous 'stang tail lights about 100yds in front of me. I ease up next to him, its a what looks like 96 GT with 4.6L badges on the side. he's rollin with his windows down blastin his country music. he doesn't even notice me next to him (cause I'm stock and I couldn't possibably wanna race his modded GT). so I drop in to third at around 45 and punch it next to him to see if he'll grab the bait, no luck. so I try again and he just looks over and laughs at me. I knew he would go the next time. so this time we slow to about 40 and I shift into 2nd (perfect starting point for the Si) and he did the same but just takes off, great now I gotta play catch up with a faster car, so I hit it as well, and supprisingly stay at his back bumper till about 80 when he lets off. we come up on a red light and once again he looks over at me and is laughing his head off. I just look ahead and consentrate on the light waiting for it to shine green. he yells "try and keep up off this bitch"(not sure what that means) but, I remained focused on the light. finally after about a minute the light changes in our favor and were off. I get a really good launch and to my suprise I pull a half a car by 40 and then another half by 60. the guy lets off and turn off immeditly, obviously in shame. I pull a u turn cause I had missed the turn to my neighborhood. after driving for a few minutes down a totally diffrent street, who do I happen to stumble upon? u guessed it, there's my boy, with windows up and driving like a grandma. I slowly pass him. he keeps his head straight and slows down even more, then pulls another turn off, doesn't wanna get humiliated again I guess. I turn down my street and chuckle to myself the whole way home. I live for these moments

haha, nice. I love killing GTs, stock ones have no chance against me. Takes about 6 lbs to gain a couple cars on them. If I boost 10, they are in my dust (or smoke coming outta my exhaust, hehe)

No stock civic can keep up with a stock GT, unless latter doesn't understand the concept of powerband and takes off in 4th gear. I personally have never seen a civic SI beat a mustang GT, no matter how tarded the driver was.

Hell that must've felt good if you really beat him.

the modular 4.6 GT (assuming it is an auto) is within the reaches of an ep hatch. the auto 4.6 was a dog.

and it was probably only exhaust. if he'd had anything major done he'd walk.

The 96-98 4.6L Mustangs with the auto were high 14 second to low 15 second cars. Pretty sad for a V8 Mustang.

That's what I was about to say. the auto's where dog's. And an exhaust on a GT can be really lound and mean sounding if they go with something like a cherry bomb, but if that's all they have, their bark is far worse than their bite.

no, you could hear that he had downshifted when we were rolling, because he dropped to a lower gear and stayed there for a few seconds before he took off, which doesn't happen in an auto, and then he downshifted again coming up on the light, it was a 5spd

I've ran plenty of older GTs at the 1/8th mile track bye my house, a lot of them are beasts, but I've beaten my share of them especially the 4.6L ones. I click off consistant 9.9-10.0 in the 1/8th (stock everything, even tires), haven't ran the 1/4th with it yet

can i ask what you have done that you'd be able to beat/keep up with a modular mustang GT stick shift? a 10.0 in the 1/8th is a far cry from what the GT can do in the 1/8th. that would put you at a high 15 second pass in the 1/4..... the modular GT stick STOCK is like a mid/high 14 second car...

I'm not saying I could beat all 4.6L mustangs. hell, I've lost to way more then I've hung with. I just posted a story about an encounter that I had the other night that I thought everyone would enjoy. my car is 100% STOCK and I'm running a far cry from all the other SI drivers around here. the next closest time I've seen an EP3 run at that track is 10.6 which is just sad, cause I can run 10.5 in the LX

I've seen 350z/g35s running high 15s all the time at the strip! it's so lame.

Here's a quesion I pose for many people out there, Fast car but are you a fast driver? (or even an average driver for that matter!?!?)

Some people just really need to learn how to drive....

end rant.

So true. My skills only go so far, I'm a defensive driver watching out for the real horrible ones. On occassion when I'm real tired is when I get in trouble and lose focus and ish hits the fan. As far race driving I'm slightly below average.
