Driving down a 2 lane road today, I was in the left lane and the right was empty. Off the the right, as I passed an intersection, a new chrysler crossfire convertible pulled out onto the road. He floored it through 1st, shifted to 2nd and got a little "squeak" out of his tires.

So we basically ended up driving next to each other down the road. We were doing 40mph so I shifted from 5th to 3rd, just to step things up a bit. He seemed eager to show off his convertible, so I had no problem showing off mine.

I downshifted to 3rd, and almost immediately I heard him downshift to take off. I immediately threw it to 2nd, just in time to catch him flooring it. He actually got a tiny jump on me by a half car, but no matter, as 2nd gear alone got me that half car back, and put about another 2+ cars on him. Into 3rd and I just kept pulling hard, so I shut down at about 75. He never passed me again after that.

Later on, I was on another 2 lane road, and found myself behind an LT1 camaro driving spiritedly. I kept up with him, working through traffic, and eventually got clear of other cars. I immediately moved over and started to creep up next to him. He downshifted, and so did I. I gave a quick blip of the throttle to see if he'd bite, and he did. As soon as I heard him go I floored it. From 35mph I wound out 2nd gear and put 2 cars on him. Shifting to 3rd I pulled almost another 2 cars by 80, and I shut down.
