Well lucky you. I have owned a ford taurus and a ford thunderbird, my family members have owned fords/mercury vehicles and they were all POS. None of them lasted 100,000 miles. found on road dead is what ford stands for. Reliabilty and durability is what Honda stands for. Hot lapping doesn't mean ****. Going around a oval track with constant high revving is impressive i.e. nascar.

With all do respect I'm not talking about racing, I'm not disputing the fact that it will beat me. I'm talking about durability. I noticed in one your post you said the t bird came with a 3.8l v6. The SHO taurus If I recall correctly was a 3.8l v6. Most likely the same engine. If so I had problems with that pos overheating and that was at 55,000 miles. I went thru 2 heads and a tranny before 100,000. My bitterness at ford lies with my experience and the experience of others. My vic has 86,000 miles with no major repair bills yet. I have owned the vic since sept 2001. I was glad to get rid of the SHO when I traded the pos in.

No they aren't the same engine. The one in the SHO was actually made completely by Yamaha, Ford only intalled it.

The Super Coupe's comes equipped with a 3.8 liter V-6 powerplant that is force-fed with an Eaton Corporation supercharger. The 8.2 to 1 compression ratio, combined with six computer controlled sequentially fuel injectors, completes the well rounded underhood package. While running at a maximum 15,600 rpm's, the supercharger provides 12 psi of boost and as a resultant it develops 210 bhp at 4000 engine rpm's. The engine develops 315 lb-ft of torque at 2600 rpm. The supercharged V-6 delivers ample power without much noise but an underdrive kit and a performance chip are available to boost the horsepower rating to 255 bhp.

Acceleration:
0-100 ft: 3.2
0-500 ft: 8.6
0-1320 ft (1/4 mi); 15.9 @ 88.5 mph

Time to speed, sec
0-30 mph: 2.5
0-40 mph: 3.8
0-50 mph: 5.5
0-60 mph: 7.4
0-70 mph: 10.4
0-80 mph: 13.1
0-90 mph: 16.4
0-100 mph: 20.8

Quarter Mile times for "Box Stock" Thunderbird SC 's:

With Automatic Transmission: They run between 15.7 to 16.0 seconds at around 86-88 mph.
With Manual Transmission: They run between 15.4 to 15.7 seconds at around 88-90 mph.

Actually the '93 and older Thurnderchickens did have an option of a 5.0 V8. You could get the V6, supercharged V6 or V8. In '94 they switched the V8 to a 4.6L, but you could still get a V8. Not sure how much power the V8 made, never really cared.

to each his own i guess my gf just bought a taurus with 200k miles on it, not my choice but hers and its still running ok. a car will only last as long as you take care of it maybe you just suck at taking care of your cars. i felt the same way as you untill i grew the heck up and stoped being a fan boy of honda and realized that there where other cars out there

why is it that every one keeps trying to compare different types of cars with one another for durability ect. look a civic will outlast many cars but not every one wants a civic infact im looking to dump the vic and get a 94 tt supra due to people like you that for some reason think our cars are god when they are not. dont get me wrong i like the civic i will be getting the gf a used 7thgen this summer so that we will have a car that will last 10 years but ya.....

I hope ur not trying to say that honda is just a car for little imature kids that don't know anything about cars, seeing as how about 65% of people that drive hondas are 40+ yrs old, and buy them because of their reputation

actualy read what i said. hes being a fan boy basicly implying that honda is the best basicly saying that honda does not have problems with there cars ect ect when we all know thats not true. there have been recalls and the 2001 trannys are crap

i never said any thing about the actual people that own hondas i said some peoples attitudes like his. i own a 2001 honda that was turboed with a sf kit and i am buying another 7th gen for my gf in the next few weeks, so im not making fun of honda or the people that own them. im saying people like him, there attitudes suck and are childish.

no where did i even imply that all the people that own hondas are 16 year old kids

I did take care of the car. I did oil changes every 3k miles, change air filters, plugs etc...I never said our vics are the god of all cars. You can interpret that I mean our vics will outlast a ford taurus and t bird. That is what the topic changed to. Alright I'm done with this e-pissing match.

Regardless of what people say, imports are built better quality, less mechanical breakdowns, and longer engine life, than domestics.

that's pure and simple fact. anyone who argues otherwise has no clue, and needs to do some research as to the workings of one Edward W Deming.
