Rep Power: 0 Apparantly they're scrapping the Neon name, just announced it a wee bit of a while ago, the next gen. will no longer bear the name 'Neon'. Apparantly people had too many negative connotations associated with it. Go figure.

His profile says he was born in 1979, so that would be 25. And if you have a fast car, or a car that looks fast everybody want to race you, I had a civic with a big wing (I bought that way becasue it already had a B16 in it, and yess I took the wing off). But when the goofy wingy ding was on my car, everybody always tried to race me. At least 3 times a week I would get some kid revving his engine or some guy tring to race me.

Rep Power: 0 the reason he has so many storys ect is due to where we live there is a huge ricer mentality in both driving style and in bodywork/engenwork.
it is very commen out here to have people with a intake and a big fart can to think they added 40 hp. when i drive my car to the mall where s2000 some times cruses i belive, i get reved at at least 5-10 times from ricers or people that cant drive stick trying to race me and i just have a turboed civicthat looks compleatly sock. Imagen driving a s2000 i bet thats dubble the amount of people trying to f around.

i've been surprised by a sleeper or two. Usually I race LS1 powered cars for the fun, but I really don't win, cuz they are how do you say... um. faster?

Of course you could always argue it's just a Neon, but that would be uncalled for.
are you kidding me or are you just rambling incoheriently out your
thast 235+whp vs 240crank. which in a s2000 means probly 192whp or so. the neon weighs in at around 2,900lbs compared to the 2,755 for the s2000. there goes yuor power to weight ratio theory. the 6 speed is pointless since the neon has a smaller final gearing ratio. same top speed. neon has more power to weight, more torque to weight. i see no comparison. the s2000 has a 0-100mph in 14 seconds. im at over 2,000 feet and neons srt4's run here 13.9 or less at over 100mph. so from a roll, you loose your ONLY advantage you had. I have driven and been in both, and i see this as only way this works out is if the ohter guy wasnting trying or his turbo forgot to spoo.
I love honda's but like we covered on some other site, i know what i drive and i know what kind of car we all own.
with my old b18c with i/h/e civic i stayed right beside an ls1 trans am. but i lost to an srt4. you claim the opposite. tell me how thats possible?

*srt4's do not dyno 235+ whp stock. on the srt forum site we just had this discussion and they said a couple factory freaks have gotten to 235, but the average is 220whp. The S2k dynos about 202whp average.
**the S2k still has 150+ pounds on the srt4.
***lol the same final drive ratio? wow. you really have NO IDEA.
SRT4 gearing:
1st: 3.647:1
2nd: 2.045:1
3rd: 1.367:1
4th: 0.947:1
5th: 0.756:1
Final Drive : 3.526:1
S2000 gearing:
1st: 3.13:1
2nd: 2.04:1
3rd: 1.48:1
4th: 1.16:1
5th: 0.97:1
6th: 0.81:1
Final Drive : 4.10:1 (however it's ACTUAL effective final drive ratio is 4.756:1 due to the primary reduction gear)
So. the neon has a TALLER final gear, not smaller. the S2k has a MASSIVE GEARING ADVANTAGE over the neon. TAHT is why the S2k is a tad faster than the SRT4. the SRT4 has a bit more power, but with the greater weight and gearing disadvantage, the S2k gets the nod here. And the S2k's top speed stock is 163mph. so the SRT4 has a top speed of 163?
****As you say the 1/4 mile speaks for itself. the best S2000 time is 13.66@102. not the 14.0 you posted. I run 14.0 stock on my BAD days when I can't get good traction from launching. my best is 13.7@102.
Whether you want to admit it or not, the S2000 is just a tad faster than the SRT4 from a launch and a roll. down low is the ONLY chance the SRT4 has on an S2k, so a roll from say 20-60mph the SRT4 might have a shot, given equal drivers. However, the cars are close enough that a bad driver in an S2k can cause the SRT4 to win.
Your post is WAY off, so you might want to re-read everything I've said.
And here's a quick video for you, contrary to some SRT4 owners who like to post vids of S2k owners just learning to drive.
The SRT4 owner is a member and known driver on the srt4 forums.
intake/exhaust S2k VS SRT4 with intake and running 17lbs boost

Rep Power: 0 your best is still a buddies stock average time at 2000 feet.
and i said 14's. some right run lower, some might run a little faster. I have seen s2000 run everything from 14.8-14.1 never seen a 13 around here.
and the weight advantage is quite rediculous.
funny im reading a post on 2 dyno's for a stock s2000. 190, and 182whp. and required some mods to hit 200whp.
and i see for srt4, 223, 232 and 226. not really a close race if you ask me.
either way, only advantage i see is the launch. other than that. i dont see this happeneing. regardless of stories. i believe my own eyes rather than a he said story...
still love the s2000 anyways.
and i could post video of 2 cars, and make up some mods to be in my favor.
im not saying i like neons better. im just saying that, nvm. i lost interest

Rep Power: 376 the mods in those videos aren't made up. the owner is a member of the srt4 forum and posted what his mods were and in fact, he is friends with the S2000 owner.
the only advantage you see is the launch? did you completely ignore one of THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTORS??? GEARING!!! save 1st gear, the S2000 is just as if not MORE agressive than the srt4 in gearing.
not to mention the effective final drive of the S2000.
4.756 is WAY MORE aggressive than the SRT4's measly 3.526. 4.756. 3.526. and you dont think that's an advantage??
besides, we can look at gearing and numbers all we want. the 1/4 mile doesn't lie. there are too many factors here, and you're simply looking at the ones that give the srt4 the advantage. you're ignoring the massive gearing advantage, the powerband over rpm range, and the weight is minimal.
just because you haven't seen someone hit 13's in an S2k doesn't mean it can't do it. i've never seen an srt4 hit better than 14.1. but I don't sit here and go "well i haven't seen it so it doesn't happen".
and a 182whp dyno on an S2k.... there is something VERY wrong with that car. 190whp is a very LOW S2k dyno. as i said, the average is 202whp or so. that 182whp S2k is either a very sickly little engine or that was on a mustang dyno.
you are posting a lot of misinformation and ignoring some very important facts.
post your BS about 182whp and 190whp and "no gearing advantage" and 14.1-14.8 crap on the s2ki.com forums and you'll get laughed off the forum.
by the way, my S2k dyno'd 205whp stock. my friend will is at 208whp stock. my friend johnny did 172whp on a mustang dyno. (that's about 206whp on a regular dyno)

Rep Power: 295 You are forgetting SRT4's are very complex cars. They don't ALWASY put down the same numbers. For instance, did you know the SRT4 can very its boost and limit it's self to 9 psi and at other times raise the boost to 14 psi. It can also retard the timing and advance it according to when it think's it will knock. In short, if you don't kow what you are doing with a SRT4 (aka put bad gas in it, run it on a humid day or what ever) it will detune it's self to prevent it from blowing up becasue of stupid drivers. This could be the case where the idiot driving ran out of money becasue his SRT4 payment was more than he could afford and put 87 octane in it or something stupid, I'm not tring to dis the S2000, but just saying that could have been a slow SRT4 and you have a fast S2000.

Very good point thats often missed with the SRT4, Thats why i never understand when people say, "I raced a neon at 19psi", How can someone claim it raced it at 19 psi when its constantly changing depending on fuel type, altitude, throttle postion, A/f ratio.

Rep Power: 376 They can claim "i ran a 19psi srt4" because, there are aftermarket mods that FORCE the SRT4 to run the boost they want to run. For example, in that video, that SRT4 had the mod to FORCE it to run 17psi all the way to redline.
As for the SRT4 boost issue, it's certainly possible, though I think I've raced and beaten now 7+ SRT4's so the chances all of them were running 10psi are minimal. In fact, one I know for sure (friend of mine who ran a 13.9 at the track) was running 15psi because he has a boost gauge and the forced boost mod. (he also usually runs 17psi)
However, also keep in mind the S2k ECU is just as affected by weather and humidity. The ECU is constantly adjusting ignition timing, advancing or retarding, and constantly change the a/f ratio to adjust for weather/climate conditions. Day to day, the S2k's power can noticably change.

Rep Power: 0 i DIDNT say they cant run 13's.... I said i have ( and comparing them at the same place) i have never seen them hit 13's. i see them along with gt mustangs run 14's all day. i ran a 14.5 at the same track 2 yrs ago. But i see srt4's run 13.7-13.9's. Based on that, numbers are pointless. its just showing you that srt4's here are a lot faster than s2000's, and bragging about beating another car cuase the driver sucks is not a

if i drive his car i get 13.3's. i guess that means i beat him huh. no that mneans you beat the driver. not the car.
