i read on evo forums and saw what they're dynoing at. i just find it weird that a WRX loses 50-70hp btwn the crank and the wheels (227hp claimed, but most dynos are 150-170), but EVO's and STi's only lose 30-50 on average. it shows how much the advertised HP numbers are really a guess. makes me want an EVO even more than i already did.
yeah thanks for the good info guys...my friend has a srt4 with intake and he beat my friend rob's EVO MR by about a car from 30, 35, and 45mph roll's but then they went from a dig and the diffrence was so much that the srt couldnt make it up and my friend eric has a s2k and this dude can drive with i/h/e and he loses to the srt by about a 1/2 car everytime

Trust me, this isnt some one talking out their ***. Its what I've seen, its what the guys that I hang out with have seen (Many of them Open track their cars)

ZZyZx I'm not doubting you man, no way, I'm just saying that the EVo is awesome on the track and it's gonna be a challenge for the S2000 seeing the EVO is AWD and has a great traction controlling computer.

here, i'll show you video of a guy that CAN drive.
This is an S2k with i/e vs an SRT4 on 17 pounds of boost.
So not only does the S2k have less mods than your friend, but the SRT4 also has MORE boost than what the srt4 your friend raced has.

as for the EVO vs S2k on the track debate, i'd tend to believe zzyzx consdiering the poor bastard probably camps out at his local auto-x track.
but i know the EVO is great at handling too. and titliest, while the traction control helps the EVO turn, it cuts down on its acceleration, hence the reason zzyzx says it can hurt performance more than help.
either way we'll see how the 2 do against each other this year in auto-x.

I hate it when the AWD guys do that... But its the only way to get the dam things to turn in quickly on track (Becuase they still understeer more then they should).... its also a great way to be kicked out of the event.

I just watched a base SRT-4, not a stage 1 or stage 2 or stage 3 but a base SRT-4 roll race a s2000 and they couldn't really pull on each other. I believe the website is either Clubrsx or AWJunkies.com. Anywho...food for thought.

depends on the speed they start at.
there's a gap in there, like 45-80 or so, where the S2k won't really pull. above 90, the S2k will start to pull pretty decently.
also, before 45mph, the S2k will pull.
assuming all drivers are equal.

that means they probably started in the 40mph area. also depends on the year. the 04+ S2k doesn't seem to have the top end the 00-03 S2k does.

its a drivers race, just leave it at that. The only flaw with the s2000 is that you need to keep it in high rpms to get max performance.

HA! Reminds me of a conversation I had with one of the guys I autocross with... At the time he was driving a STX preped WRX. His complaint was that AWD allows Idiots to be fast, because AWD can cover up Many of the drivers Bad Habits. The problem with this is that AWD becomes a crutch.. which causes the new driver to not only develop some very bad habbits but slows down their learning curve.
He joked that the Idiots guide to driving AWD was this
1. If the car is Understeering, Floor it.
2. If the car is Oversteering, Floor it.
Basically, the standard responce for AWD in just about any circumstance is to Floor it.
Talk about Idiot proof Driving...

it's not a flaw by any means. it's a preference.
