theres a guy i work with who has a 2000 civic dx with i/e/h and plugs who thinks that his car is so fast. he always talks about how he can beat me and this and that. well finally we left work at the same time last night and we ran in to each other at the light before the freeway. the only thing is i was in the other lane but a car behind, and there was a truck behind him so i was 2 cars behind. the light goes green and this fool takes of like its race time. so i had to wait to pass the car in front of me, but that took awhile cause this dx was having a hard time getting far enough up so i could pass and get into the lane next to him. by the time i got into the other lane i was about 4 cars behind him. i was in third gear and i punched it and shifted at 6500 and half way into third gear i was next to him and just continued on with his woopin. needless to say today he denies his loss and says that he kept up with me until 100 mph and then my vtec was the only thing that won the race. just remember i was behind him from the start. i asked him today if he wants to race again and ill give him a car and well go when he wants, but he doesnt want to.

if not, if you pulled on him like that with 3rd, then he was either in 4th or he had stopped racing you.

you both have very similar mods, and mod for mod, he's going to beat you, because the D16 responds to mods a lot better than the D17.

you'll still beat him because you have a more agressive FD, but if he can drive it's gonna be close.

Ive raced my friends 98EX. He has an intake, and always thinks he'll win. I am slightly ahead of him, not by much. I have a LX though. Hes like, your car pulls so hard when you launch. Damn straight, Im a good shifter usually.

i kinda find it hard that you pulled on the guy that much. because a d17 vs a d16 with h/i/e has the adavantage power wise, but the d17 tranny is alot more agressive. 1/4 times i say if he can drive you should be about even. vtec won't make you pull on somebody like there is no tomarrow, just helps in the top end a little on the low-high change over. vtec is a gas saver not a power mod.
