Who would win?
I was pondering this matchup the other day! Put an H22 VTEC 2.2L and a K20 VTEC from an RSX Type S 2.0L put identical mods on them! Who would win? Initally i would say the H would win because of its size but then again i have to give the benefit of the doubt for the K because of its smaller size! What do you guys think?

Hard to tell.
Given the fact that the K20 has a 3-stage variable lift system, while the H22 only has 2.... I'd say that the K20 is more likely to be more "on cam" at any given point, allowing for more aggressive and precise tuning. Having that middle cam makes a big difference when it comes to keeping torque curves flat.
Weight shouldn't be an issue, since the (probably) slightly heavier H22 has a few extra ft-lbs to make up for it.
What's the application, and what are the mods?

By identical mods i mean same turbo(assuming that the same turbo would fit both engines) same intake same exhaust same headers cams camshafts etc. Basically two fully built motors with the exact same parts.

Like NoFriends said horsepower sells but torque wins races so i would place my bet on the H22!

well i got a vid of a h22a with mods swapped in a hatch with weight reduction vs a teg with a k20a swap and bolt-ons and guess what won? The teg with the k20a. If you dont believe me check out honda-tech and search in the archives.

i think if an h22 can take an F20 then it can most definately take a k20!
