again, where did he ever say he thought he could "beat almost all the base RSX's and Si's out there"?? sounds to me like he said stock. oh yeah... stock, wow he even used that word.
as for him predicting he might get to rsx-s times, well he even said he's predicting it. i'm not sure what his mods are going to be, but depending on that, getting to the times of a stock rsx-s aren't unattainable.

New mods:
Unorthodox crank pulley
BFG G force TA DR's on 14" steelies (should be good for .2-.4 alone) I ran the 15.7 on stock dunlops spinning off the line and between gears.
Just ordered Revo SS 2 day shipped. Install Sat.
This we'll be my last trip to the track before I deploy in three weeks. I'll be gone till May. I may be crazy, but I don't want to leave the country without a 14sec slip. May be asking for too much, but at the worst I predict a low 15. Stock RSX-TypeS runs high14's to low 15's on average.

Again, judging from the general gist of the topic ("Finally I was beaten by an SI"), would it be wrong to assume that Redline04 expects to beat most SIs out there?
Here's another post for you to try to "defend".
Honestly, I think it;s ridiculous how people are giving props to this guy for gutting the interior, taking out the power steering, etc, running a mere 15.7....then getting pats on the back for it.
Might as well go the extra mile and do this:

Ok my rear may resemble that car but the front, the part where my wife and I ride looks perfectly normal from the drivers seat. I don't really care about luxury or comfort that much. It's a civic not a lexus. So I simply got rid of what I didn't need. This somewhat compensates for the lack of performance parts available for the D17. All together it was around a whopping 150lbs. So I gained a tenth or two. Worth it to me cause a good race could be decided by that margin. And as you can see from my sig the outside is normal.
I don't know why I bother arguing with you. Just do us a favor and please leave.

dont worry, i'll be sure to say the same thing when someone takes an RSX to 14.0 yet it's just a "mere" 14 flat when I can run a 13.7.
get the hell of your high horse, and get the hell off this forum.
you're damn right we are gonna congratulate him for making his civic faster. this is a civic site, and he's modding his car just like anyone else who mods cars. who the f*ck are you to rag on him for that.
tsk tsk..pointless to even try to get my point across. Heh..wutever
haha...im tired of arguing with you guys about how it isn't a driver's race between the SI & 2k1. Go ahead and expect to beat SIs when you're running a best of 15.7. Go ahead and enjoy driving a car which sounds like an empty, rattling tin-can. The last time i checked, people actually bought civics BECAUSE they have rear seats and power steering.
Like i said before...this picture says it all

I think it looks a little different
well I guess I'm not most people. I'm just a guy with a underpowered econobox, challenging my driving and modding skills by trying to make a slow car run respectable times and maybe beat a few bigger badder cars along the way

Don't have the physical slips, but the last time i ran at the track (last year), i pulled a 15.7 in my 5speed rsx. (And since you place such a high emphasis on weight, this was done with full interior and a full tank of gas)
My friend with a 5speed EX ran a best of 16.4. He has his back end of his car "gutted" just like you.

OMYFIN GOD. YOu are a **** Stick! Your ragging me for running a 15.7 in a 100whp econobox with 200lbs weight reduction and you ran the same time with 30-40 more hp.
Go home. Or better yet come down here to shreveport so I can wax your *** at the strip and then send your *** packing.
I'm not even gonna waste my time with you any more.

He is running the same time as you with a car that has about 60hp less from the factory. That right there shows that he has done really well with the modding process. And now that I know what your car runs, I'm not even going to waste my breath. Your car is slow as ***** so you have no right to flame someone. As stated before....."get off your high horse"

no, stock 14" steelies. I ran the 17's one time in 80degree weather a while back. 16.2@87 If I remember correctly. 42psi in them so I was spinning quite a bit.
I'm gonna run em again this Sun before I put the DR's on just to see what I'll do.

I normally launch at 4k but with these new tires I may try 5k and see how they hold up.

The BFG's are a great tire. I think the ones that I'm thinking about are the BFG KDW. Great traction for both dry and wet surfaces. I've also heard good things about the KDWS's. Pretty much a good all season tire.

I know that it has alot to do with the mass towards the outside, but wonder which one is faster??
It all depends on what size tire you are running on the 17's. Pretty much the overall wheel/tire diameter is what matters right up there with the overall weight.

. I can punch it from a role while cornering in 1st and leave a 1 wheel patch. Don't know how I though they were going to be better in the winter
Well since the 17's are lighter than the 15's I'd say yes. Just make sure that the tire size that you throw on them makes them the same diameter as the 15's. This way the 17's will be making the same revolutions per minute as the 15's. With the 17's being lighter it will esentually make the 17's a faster rotating tire. Hope all this makes sense.

this is ridiculous, dude you are married. you should keep your car in one piece for your wife's sake. and why would you take out your powersteering if your car is brand new???????wtf. i've never run into any 7th gen tht i didn't own. in fact a while ago on this board in another "i owned and SI" thread issued a challenge to an em2 in washington regardless of their mods. and nobody wants to race my ep. i don't see why especially seeing as how all of you are so confident in your cars. well along time ago when all i had was intake i raced vs my friend's EM2 with I/E and everything gutted from the front seats back. (i'm tlkaing everything:rear dash c-pillar panels...etc...)
well here's the vid
GUTEED EM2 intake/exhaust/SS vs EP with intake

I think a lock on this thread should sum this up. Possibly a ban if this kid doesn't shape up?
