haha what I see on the video is the dude in the type S was in the wrong gear causing his take off to seem much slower.

as far as WHP the celica is between 151-161whp and the type S is around 165 - 175 ish
modded - the type S has a far better aftermarket and responds MUCH better to mods. properly modded the type s has a much better topend due to the bigger engine and more power. type S has a 2.0 vs the celias 1.8 how ever with some minor weight reduction the celica can easily reset the balance.

I don't think he had a problem shifting as much as he probably didnt downshift before they started. cause if you watch closely he gets the jump and then the celica walks him. only way that would happen is if the celica was in lift and the rsx wasnt in vtec. cause with a jump like that the rsx should have held the lead.
notice that once they go a lil ways they stay even and neither car pulls. ha dthe rsx been in the right gear it woulda been a very close race IMO. the edge shouldve gone to whoever got the jump.

^^^ youre right about the wrong gear, but I got my thoughts from when they had the camera on the back of the cars and they drove off 1 after the other... thats when the RSX sounded like it missed 2nd. (or maybe he did that on purpose, who knows??!)

a stock rsx-s vs. would take a stock celica gt-s. thats if both drivers are equally skilled. the celica will not be owned but the type-s would have about 5-6 cars on it by 80.

What the hell is lift?
the VVTL-I is about the same as I-VTEC they are different ways of doing a similar function.
I don't think you even comprhend how much of a power difference it would take to do that.
also on average both cars run low 15's - high 14's stock. equal drivers would be a VERY close race. we're talkin inches NOT car lengths.
