by the way, i looked into it. according to the helm manual, there is no difference in the wiring of the jdm ecu for a d17 and the usdm ecu for a d17.

and by the way, your dx ecu will not work on an ex d17. so can you explain that to me as well?

lol dude you're so full of crap, or your friend lied and has no idea what he's talking about. I found the specs, wiring manual. the rest of the world gets mostly hatchback civics, in the form of type r, type s, honda civic CTDi, etc.
the ONLY OTHER CIVIC in the world that has a 1.7 liter is the Honda Civic Ferio. And guess what cheech. it has the EXACT SAME wiring harness and EXACT SAME wiring diagram as a USDM civic. The parts are totally interchangeable. It's a D17A2 engine, with the exact same specs as the USDM civic. The fact that the steering wheel is located on the right hand side does NOT change the orientation of the engine or it's wiring.
also the "7th gen civic" was available in europe and japan starting with model year 2000. a whole year before our civic became available.

pic of our engine bay
see.... right hand drive does NOT change a damn thing as far as the layout goes, with the exception of the power steering module and brake module.

JDM is a loose term these days.. it really depends on your defintion. Alot of replacement engine companies here in the US import theyre engines directly from Japan and rebuild them here. Maybe its one of those type of engines. Supposedly in Japan they have very strict laws when it comes to older engines. I read that when an engine in Japan gets to ~40,000 miles it needs be replaced or something like that. Not that 40,000 is alot, but the laws are different there.

dont underestimate a cavalier. my best friend has an 02 LS sport which has a 2.2 ecotec with 140 horse and 150 torque. EVERY time i race him i get my *** handed to me. the only way i beat him is if we ever get over 100 mph which we dont because the cavaliers seem to cut off at 108.
P.S. we both have autos
P.S. we both have autos

Also let me join the race w/ the cavilier. If you can't beat him. I will take care the rest for you.

bgoetz, do not take this the wrong way, but you have no idea what you are talking about. Let s2k man do the arguing. I cannot believe the stupid noob comments littered throughout the entire first page. Yes he would win if he has a working d17 5spd with intake and exhaust from a stop. If he juices, it would be destruction.

Besides who made you the noob police??? Just because I started in August does not mean that I don't have a clue
