Do I suck at driving, or what?!

Just got back from the track tonight - My times were not impressive by any means.....My car, as most of you are aware of, is boosted. First run I did was 15.8 at 89 MPH. This was around 4-5 PSI of boost. Second run, dumped the clutch, 16.6 at 91 MPH I believe. This was at about 8 PSI of boost. Third run, same boost, around 15.5 @ 92 MPH.

I was slipping up to third - but damn, 15.5?? I was expecting to break 14s!!!

A lot of folks were very impressed with the install of the turbo, non-the-less - guess no one here in Orlando has seen a 2001+ series civic that's been turboed!

Well - I don't think the fact that I had about 32 PSI of air in my tires helped either!

Anyhow, my times are as follows:

60' - 2.571
330' - 6.798
1/8 - 10.198
1000 - 13.113
1/4 - 15.588
MPH - 90.89

Guess I need practice too!

rev it up so when you launch the turbo is spooled. Adjust your gas pedal to how much traction you have. If your spinning let off just a bit until you hook then drop the pedal once more. Sounds easy but as you found out it takes practice.

60' - 2.571
wow man, your 60's suck. Practice a bit before going to the track again
Are you on 17's?? Get some lightweight 15's or even 16's, drop the tire pressure to low 20's on the front and you're good to go.

Shouldn;t your trap speed be like closer to 100 at 8-9 PSI regardless of how much traction you get off the line? First time i went to the track i spun the tires hard and shifted to 2nd and my rpms sunk to lik 2500. I ran like a 18.7 but still was goin 82 mph. I was stock BTW.

Stock tires for 04 EX's are them Potenza's. They got some decent tractionage. Did you say you were slippin in and through 3rd gear? You may need a more heavy duty clutch on yer tranny there man. If you haven't gotten one already, I would suggest that clutch pack from ACT.

If you have the money, a set of drag radials will help.

Already changed the clutch to ACT xtreme with streetlite flywheel....I meant that the tires were slipping, not the clutch.

As far as the car goes - I blew at least 1 motor mount either last night, or through the course of driving the car hard. I discovered that **** tonight. This things becomming a fast money pit once the turbo was installed....

Time for some polyurethane motor mounts.

As far as the tires, I have Yokohama AVS ES 100's - good tires, just didn't drain pressure from them....

I ran 16.9 stock in my 04 VP/DX with a 2.399 60ft. So maybe 16.5 for an lx/dx. 15.7-15.9 for EX.
Gonna see if I can hit 15's sat. night with just bolt ons, if my motor mounts come tomorrow.

you should not need to drain the pressure from them to run good times ... when I was turbo'ed, my tire pressure was around 38 psi on my goodyear's and I still managed to take out countless wrx's and such

first suggestion dyno the car and see if its putting out the numbers needed to get those times. second practice your driving and do it at the track so you know what technigues are helping you and which ones are hurting you. Also a 17.7 stock is good if its auto if its a stick then i dont know what to tell you because I ran a 16.3 stock on a lx sedan 5 spd and im hopping to get a 15.9 with my mods next time out.

....

those times between the lx and ex are way too big. A ~15hp advantage towards the ex, doesnt produce a .6-.8 sec. difference btween the 2.

let's see ...

-smoking from day 1 (stopped after replacing the turbo)
-SHITTY install job (got SF to thank for that), caused me MANY hours of re-arranging intercooler pipes
-blew 2 headgaskets (after I sold the kit, I found out was due to:
-cracked fuel pump (ran hella lean, blew head gasket)
-not satisfied with welding job
-got a stud broken off from one of the exhaust bolts (from a shitty installation job, thanks to SF)

yeah, I think that's about it

but it made tons of ****in power ...

Maybe that combined with the shorter gearing. But then again the EX is heavier
