Madd Money Slower Time

Ok, i have an 02 vtec automatic transmission, and i have an injen cold air intake, jdm 4-1 headers with downpipe, no cat, mugen axel-back exhaust, venom 400 module, aem pullys, and a cf hood. After all of these installs on the street im fast ******* v6's but on the track my time got worst, i went yesterday and ran 17.8, there is a slight mishap in my connection to my venom module but i fixed it on the third run and i ran 17.4, but still why after all this work im still a 17 second car i can't break the barrier. I still have my stock plugs and wires but i don't know if thats the problem, cause like i said on the streets im fast. Please Help........

Ok, I'm going to be rough on you but it's the easiest way to explain.
See, first off you probaly believe the ads that companies clain, like...+10 HP on an intake!
None of that is ever true.

Like for instance, you don't have a JDM 4-1 Header, although it was probably advertised as one and you believed it. You also don't have a Mugen axle-back exhaust cause they don't make one for our cars.
What V-6's are you *******?
BTW we don't have spark plug wires...

Aye the only way to go a lot faster is with nitrous, Turbo, swap, or MASSIVE amounts of engine work.

fast on the street, but slow on the strip........hmmmm got yourself in quite a predicament......lets put on our "thinking caps" guys....

maybe its that you're racing slower cars on the street and faster cars on the strip???

I didnt want to be the first one to say it but 17sec isnt a fast car man

you're fast on the streets or you're "fast" on the streets. I think I'll take the latter. 17 seconds is not fast I don't care if you're riding a tricycle with a 17 second 1/4 mile, it's still not fast

time to get a manual

hmmm maybe you should try experimenting with your mods by removing some and go to the track again.....i guess you can call it "test and tune"

sometimes more mods doesnt equal more power or faster times......

get rid of the pulleys too. It's been proven that they slow you down until you pass about 90mph. I would start by putting on stock pullies, then hitting up the track to try that out.

no midpipe --> bottle neck???
check engine light?
sell venom400, replace with vafc-2 w/ dyno tune?

also, have you maintained fluids? ie. freq. oil changes and tranny fluid flush? as well, check cleanliness of plugs.

also, i'm curious, what elevation are you running at? (unless those are corr. numbers)

You have an auto even with I/H/E push 16.8+. Unless you want some real low ET's. Your gunna need NX kit, Turbo Kit, or alot of motor work. If you realy want to swap in a manual 5 speed or trade that car in for a new civic 5 speed. I can tel you this with an 5 speed you can take more then a second off your auto times.

I always think it's funny when I hear 1 of these 2 most common lines for bad times at a track..

"I hate coming to the track cause I launch MUCH better on the street"
or
"I wonder whats makin me slower at the track? I know I'm much faster on the street."

whats really happening is that there is nothing to tell you you're slow on the street. At the track the clock let's you know when you're slow

If you added mods and got slower times then perhaps you should do wha twas sugessted earlier and pull them off one at a time or dyno your car with and with out them to see the difference.

you also have to rememer that heat and humidity can change your times. even though you have an auto you might wanna check the 60' times and see how they compare.

yea my downpipe looks like a cat but hollow, check engine light is on, i could put the vafc-2 with the venom right? fluids are good oil change every 3k miles, havent did a tranny flush and fill yet i have 50k miles, and my plugs are stock but i dont know if that'll do much if i change em. thanks for helpin though
