Well.... Autocrossing in San Diego is so popular they had to start Several different clubs to have enough events.... Its not uncommon to have 200 cars at an event down in SD.
SCAT = Southern California Autocross Team
SDAD = San Diego Asebring Drivers
SCNAX = Sport Compact national AutoX Club
DCCSD = Datsun Competition Club of San Diego
TART = ..... Dont konw...???
ANy way, in San Diego, you typically need to join one of these clubs to beable to be in the points race for that club... You only need to be an SCCA member to race, but you need to be a "Insert club here" member to earn points for trophys and such.
Heres the San Diego Solo 2 forums

BTW, I grew up in San Diego... and I've only autocrossed there once. Running at qualcom is great, you get to run National Style courses....

Yeah I wanna go run my car too, but probably not on the August 1st one. It says is some Championship, so does that mean you have to already have won some kind of thing to compete, or is it open to everybody? If I wanna do this, I just show up early, pay, and go?

For San Diego to autocross you Need to be a Member of the SCCA only. If you want to get in the points race for trophys at the end of the year then you'd need to join one of the clubs.
as Far as it being a championship, that means that its a points event... and you'll only get 3 runs. Plus some fun runs at the end of the event if theres time.
For your first time in SD, I'd go to one of their pratice days, that way you'll get more track time.
