for those with modified suspensions.........be careful

at nine o'clock on saturday night, valentine's day, i lost my best friend who was like a brother to me in a car accident. his name is Paul Figuroa, and he lived in oceanside california with me. he was riding in the passenger seat of my buddy Erik's 97 civic ex when they were driving on a twisting road with his new suspension kit for his car when he came around a blind left turn and accidentally drifted into the oncoming lane .... when a lady in a white minivan struck the civic on the passenger side (paul's side), and totaled both cars. Paul died instantly on the impact due to severe head trauma. erik and paul were both a little intoxicated, and when the crash happened , erik pulled paul who was bleeding from his ears and the back of his head out of the driver's side door and tried to do cpr on him. it was too late. both erik and the lady in the van were life-flighted to a hospital. erik suffered a broken rib and a bruised kindney. he was leaking waste and blood in his body, but is recovering and his home now. the lady is in critical condition, and if she doesn't make it..... erik could be faced with two accounts of vehicular man slaughter. starting with the phone call at 4 am in the morning,, sunday was probably the worst day of my life that i can think of. as much as i wanted to strangle erik when i went to the hospital, i felt for him and knew that he didn't do anything intenionally. one of the hardest parts was getting ahold of paul's parents who were in bakersfeild at the time and telling them the news over the phone. paul just bought a brand new blue lancer evolution this past fall, and his life was going great for him. i thought all of us were invincable on the road, but things took a wrong turn. i know that paul died doing what he loves best, which was to drive/ride really fast and aggressive, and to be in one of his favorite spots in bonsall california's sleeping indian road. i hope you guys out there drive really safe, you can never be too careful, even if you have a good suspension. never let a friend drive drunk, and never leave a friend when issues aren't resolved, because you never know if yo'ull see them again. as far as paul probably knows, they're still drifting around that turn. i think he's in heaven now paving the roads up there and racing around the clouds..... may he be with the father.....

my sincerest opologies to you about your friend... but do change the topic, that is really misleading... unless you ARE actually saying that because he changed his suspension that he got into the accident.

as much as i feel for all the people hurt in the accident, i have to say, driving up twisted roads for one is risky in itself, and knowing how we teens think, we like to go fast. I'm not making any accusations but there are plenty of questions at stake, especially since your buddy could be charged of vehicular man slaughter...if they can't prove the car went wrong, he's going to get charged...if they can prove that his suspension caused it (which is friggin soooooooooo unlikely unless he installed it wrong, or it wasn't adjusted correctly etc) he most likely will not be facing those charges...i'm not a lawyer, so i'm just basing this on common sense.

but yeah, may the deceased RIP, and may we all learn a lesson from this (whether its messed up suspension or another face of the story).

that sucks but I hear to many of these stories. The fact of life is that people although its horrible will do something stupid and people sometimes friends or love ones will pay the price.
Be safe and stay smart on the streets people. There is a reason insurence companies bring ownage payments to teenagers and sports car owners.
Teenagers do stupid things, teenagers in fast cars = do even more stupid things

the police statement says that he was intoxicated and speeding through the turn, and they're trying to figure out what caused his drift into the oncoming lane where he t-boned the other car. sorry about the misleading topic, but erik loved turning with his lowered car, and i believe he just got a new strut tower bar... and he was excited to get the results, but i'm not blaming his suspension, , thank you for all of your support guys, it really does mean a lot.

Sucks, but it sounds like driver error rather then a suspension problem.

and sleeping indian road is one of the most dangurous roads in San Diego county.

sad to hear of your loss.

AR will become famous soon enough
you're telling me something i already know (the driving safe part).

i feel for your friends and for your friends family. i don't think i could take losing the life of a friend/family/loved one by the use of my own judgement. it nearly happened to me and my gf of 3 years.

in any event, i pray for the families involved. especially for the mom and dad who lost their son, i can only imagine the pain.

i look death in the face every time i look at my hands. whenever i type, write, draw, sketch. i probably will for the rest of my life.

sorry to hear about your loss.
i know whats its like to lose friends, especially in car accidents
i lost two friends in the same car accident about 3 weeks before christmas. which made it harder to deal with.
make sure you keep your head up though.

both funerals were one right after the other, and they are both just a big hazy memmory.
I went through a horrible depression and found myself dragging through my days. do what you can to stay strong.
