I really want to slap the $hit out of you. You drive an economy car that you think is fast, and then talk about "everyone races at school." You have no identity of your own. You follow a gayass gay furious trend. Go get a life. You should be arrested for street racing, and lynched for "autos should be outlawed." That's freakin classic. I think that even tops when I watched Fast and Furious the first time and Vin Diesel was like "You're granny shifting and not double clutching like you should be." Hahaha. I have an idea. Why don't you grow a brain before you try to open your mouth about things you don't understand boy. This is what happens when highschoolers watch too many movies and get in a honda...

^^ Calm down. As for HOW to race an Auto, brake-torque, give it gas, and just hold each gear as long as possible by using 2,d3. No D3 doesnt give you any more power than if you were in D

Stick shift will never be replaced.

Never.

Ever.

Especially by the Germans since they're a respected performance country. Maybe from daewoo or some **** but not BMW

OK, ive read this entire thread, and Im disapointed.

to j0rge : shut up, autos wont ever be outlawed because there is a convinience factor, and you and your friend DO drive a civic so dont complain about the car being slow because its an economy car, plain and simple.

AR : REALLY STFU, I drive an auto because I run deliveries for part of my job, and austin traffic sucks during the day. Not to mention the afformentioned economy carness of the civic. plus, I was in a cycling accident and destroyed my left ankle, I have almost no movement in my joint because I have no cartlidge, so I take direct offense when someone says people are just to dumb to learn how to drive stick.

sorry to everyone else, most of you had valid comments, but asshats like these **** me off because they are obviously looking at stuff the wrong way.

Not many laws ofr cars, so hes defnitely in the clear, but probably my only suggestion for your 03 auto friend is this. When racing with autos, you do have a LITTLE control on shifting...wanna know?

when accelerating hard, rev till it hits 6500 rpm, then for about 1-2 seconds let go of the throttle, just take your foot off the gas, youll feel a little kick, then press it again, there are four gears in your auto so do it four times, keep doin it (PRACTICE), youll get fast very quick.. ENJOY!

that's my next car: Seat Leon w/17's
Hopefully I can get it when I go to Europe in June.

We race with VW, Seats, Renaults, Peugots, Fords, Chevs, Nissans, dodge.. everyone go.
The problem is that I cant stand to see how everyone beats my friend auto sedan(except focus and a old bettle).
I cant explain why its 1st gear is so slow.

My proposal:
Engines < 2.0 + Auto = Illegal!!!

What ya think of my propose?

p.d.: my 7thgen is feared in my school ))))

I'm calling bullshit on this one... Peugeots are not sold in North America, and neither are Renaults...and I don't know what you mean be Seats...there is no way you know what you are talking about at all. Now that I went back to read your post, it's become apparent to me how full of **** you are. And by the way, if you go to school where there are any decent VW's, Nissans, or domestics, I seriously doubt that your civic is "feared" in your school.

....umm...NO, there is a first gear. Just because the dash says 2 3 D N R P doesn't mean that there isn't a first gear. If you stick in D and start and then stick in 2 and start, you will know where the first gear is.

And sticking the car in 3 does nothing different than in D but it just doesn't let the car go in over-drive and when the transmission hit 3rd gear, it stays in it till you move the stick up to D.

I have a AT and I don't mind it too much. I do know how to drive a MT and I have owned one. I prefer a MT over an AT anyday but some people don't exactly have a choice.

AT and/or MT won't phase out anytime soon. They are widely used around the world so whoever has that idea should look around the auto scene.

Oh and Sentra aren't exactly the slowest things on the road.

Wow, that I didn't know. But I would kind of figure that BMW would do it.

But AT and/or MT still won't phase out completely. There are just too many consumers that will buy either of them. Kind of like a turbo or supercharged vehicles.

Although, I am waiting for you to find that every car company is getting rid of MT.

most americans are lazy ? well id come over there and kick your A$$ but im sittin here on my couch being lazy ... and the reason most of us dont learn to drive stick is umm because they make auto to be more convient for people say older people etc... so sayin auto should be illegal is retarded .. because i didnt buy my civic to try and make it a 10 second car ... i bought it to drive

Well... Auto's are good. High end autos (SMG) can shift far quicker than humans on a good day.

Manuals are also good but very tiring... I spend over two hours a day on the road/ in traffic. I just don't like the hassle.

Hmm. It's actually better to leave it in D. The reason is if you shift it into 2, when you shift it OUT of 2 (if you get up that high in speed) the shift is not instant, it takes a second or two. You will get to 3rd faster if you just let the computer do it.

No D3 doesnt give you any more power than if you were in D
That is true.

To give all of you a better perspective. I live in mexico, my 2001 EX can easily beat a jetta 2.0, a normal sentra, a base neon, etc... Jetta 1.8t, Clio Sport, Seat Leon turbo, Seat leon CupraR, neon r/t, srt4, sentra se-r spec-v, etc. are totally out of context here . The thing he said about making autoīs illegal is just a joke, I thought nobody would be stupid enough to take it seriously. And to the guy who said peugeots and renaults are not sold in North America, last time I checked, North America is made up of more countries than just the USA , so maybe you could have thought that they were sold in another country.

To correct civicrookie, he probably does not have one of the fastest cars in his area. Just because itīs mexico doesnīt mean there are no fast cars. Try doing some research on SEAT Leon, and SEAT cupra R.

Also, to all of those who are against street racing: If you think itīs dangerous, please donīt do it, but donīt tell other people what to do. Itīs my very own problem if I want to risk my life.

Also, dont hate!! LOL iīm just adding my 2 cents.

Eh Jorge de donde eres wey?? estos gringos no entienden ni siquiera un comentario. Suerte con los arrancones, el civic tiene bastante potencial si lo manejas bien y contra carros de su nivel.
