accord V6 vs the "unbeatable" mustang GT

I am contemplating getting a new accord V6, and have had one on loan from my friend's dealership for a few days. (he had it as a demo car for a bit) These cars are awesome. V6 6 speed, leather, navigation, EVERYTHING. I love it. If I can't get an STi, this will be the way I go. (and with the wedding it would be cheaper too)

I'm on the freeway and I see a mustang coming up behind me in the left lane. FAST. He blows by (mind you I'm already doing 80mph in a 65). I let him be since he was lookin like a punk tryin to be cool in his black mustang GT. (it was 99 or higher model) I'm also not up for a freeway race since it's a little busy on the freeway.

I figure that's it, as he speeds off in the distance. However, later I slowly come up to him and some traffic. He's so pissed that he can't "speed like a cool guy" he's actually driving back in forth in his lane. Weaving to and fro. I mean, why drive like a normal person in the center of your lane, when you can utilize the entire thing by swerving from dotted line to dotted line?

Now I see why there is the hold up. There is a state trooper no one wants to pass. Not so big and bad now mr mustang punk.

I go to exit, and the mustang exits in front of me. I am behind him at the first light, which he takes off. I stay right behind and wait. Eventually we get another red and I line up. He actually revs at me. Like rev rev rev rev. Like I'm scared of his big bad mustang ego. Anyways, light turns and the guy doesn't even launch. I turned off the TCS and launched. I spun too much (still gettin used to it) and stayed about even with him once his torque kicked in. And then. It was all the accord. Pull pull and pull some more. By 80mph I had a car length on him. Shut down. And he suddenly turns off after we slow down. As if he was slowing down the whole time.

haha. loser.

I've seen stock V6 6speed accords run 14.2 at the track. They will even give an S2000 a run for it's money. I would rather have the S2000, but the accord is a very very good car. Well worth the 25 grand. v6, 6speed, navigation, leather interior, heated seats, dual climate control, 6 disc in dash cd, premium sound (im talkin it sounds like a sub is in the trunk), moonroof, electronic braking distribution with ABS, traction control (it can be turned off), controls on steering wheel for radio and cruise and navigation, and more. This thing is a luxury sport coupe speed demon IMO.

nice run...

and 14.2? pretty impressive....only able to pull 14.5 at this point in thee crappy, florida summer in thee 6-speed v6...but maybe this fall that will all change....amazing how your location changes everything

and top end...thee accord is just a beast......not that it doesnt get up and go just as well.....overall...i think honda did a fine job with thee car.....couldnt be happier with it

No it will not pull. The GT however is still faster with a better driver, considering a GT can run a 13.8 stock. But the reason the GT can run the 13.8 vs the accord's 14.2 is because mostly of it's RWD launch. Once you get past about 50mph the Accord pulls on the GT, whether you'd like to think so or not. As I said, the accord will even give an S2000 a run for it's money.

So if you run an accord vs a mustang GT from a 45mph roll.. the accord will win.

Also remember driver plays a big role. I've seen gt's modded that couldnt get past high - mid 14's if their life depended on it. Mostly cause of the driver not lack of power in the car!

From what I know, the 3.5 SE is faster than the Accord, so you might have a chance. Close race though. If you got the chance, go for it.

i almost got the accord coupe v6 6 speed too! but instead went with the Type S...the car is really nice! Got lots of power, the clutch was a little different, hard to get use to. smooth shifting, i also heard it will give a S2000 a good run.

A 3.5SE is no where NEAR faster than the new 6 speed V6 accord. heck, even the GTP and V6 6 speed accord are a match. Both cars run around 14.2 stock. A 3.5 SE is like a high 14 second car.
