Boxster S vs 2K1 civic
Raced a 2002 boxster S thru the twisties!! It was through a canyon rd. That car is SO good. Almost lost my brakes at the end of it & fish- tailed once through the course, as i was going all out.
The guy was an older (white- haired white guy) in a titanium colored 2002 boxster S. We met at a 4- way stop sign at the same time & i let him go ahead into the canyon road. He started crusing slow 25 MPH. I was like, "ok, this is going to be a boring drive", as it was a twisty 2- lane w/ double yeloows all the way through (about 5 miles). within a 100 yards, though, he slammed on the gas, so did i. I'm not one to usually street- race, but don't know what got into me!! I downshifted & chased.
Through the turns, i could catch up about 2 car lengths, when the road straightened out, he shot ahead by 4- 5!! He was taking it easy for the most part, as i couldn't even hear his engine rev or his tires squeal. I was making enough noise to wake up the dead!! I was as close to red- lining as i could keep it & there wasn't a turn i went throught where my tires weren't protesting (except one, where there was on- coming traffic & we both slowed) it was really exciting the whole way & i'm glad someone didn't call the cops on me (though the next day as i was driving home, i saw a cop for the 1st time ever on that road, driving the opposite direction to me, he turned around & followed me the rest of the way through the canyon. Was it co- incidence? Don't know.
Well the most exciting moment was the 1st ess. it swung left & then right, then left & straightened out. The S cheated & went over the double yellow. I got mad & just mashed the gas pedal down to try to catch him (i trusted my suspension set- up too much- tuned civic vs boxster S. S
wins by a KO in handling!!) i managed to keep my line till the road swung right. I had too much momentum & my tires lost traction. I over- corrected a little & managed not to loose the S by too much.
The way he drove was brake before the turn, go through slow & gas on the way out. He braked too early in my opinion & there were a couple of times i wished i had more stopping power, as i ended up inches from his bumper. S
wins by a KO in braking, also!! That car was just too powerful for my estimated 150 crank HP & other mods. S
wins by a KO in power, also!!
At the end of the canyon, he powered out & was at a stop sign about a 100 yards, out. I tried to catch up & ended up alongside him (i couldn't stop behind him, as my brakes were all faded out. He just ignored me. I wanted to acknowledge his car. The driver sucked though.
It's beyond me why you wouldn't want to learn how to enjoy a car like that!! I want an S!!

SCCA autocross Classification
Boxster: B Stock (the Boxster and the S2000 are the dominiant cars in this class)
Boxster S: A-Stock (Dominatied by C4 and ZR-1 corvettes)
So Id guess that the car had a lot more in it, but the driver didnt.
Good run.

ahhhh thanks.
now you can see why they want the S2000 to go A-stock, considering most events it actually runs faster times than the A-stock Boxster S, and is considered to handle better.

I'd be interesting to see how the S2000 fairs against the corvettes that dominate A-stock
Heres the results for this years Tire Rack SCCA National Championship
Top 3 cars in A stock
93 Chevrolet Corvette Tire: Hoosier Finishing time: 112.937
89 Chevrolet Corvette Tire: Hoosier Finishing time: 114.187
00 Porsche boxter s Tire: Hoosier Finishing time: 114.800
Top 3 cars B-Stock
01 Honda S2000 Tire: Hoosier Finishing time: 113.291
00 Honda S2000 Tire: Hoosier Finishing Time: 113.493
01 Honda S2000 Tire: Hoosier Finishing Time: 113.761
So ya, by the Numbers the 2000 could be in A-Stock and do pretty well it seems.
Just for ***** and Giggles here are the Top 3 cars in My class (STS)
89 Honda Civic Si Tire: Kumho Finishing Time: 112.836
88 Honda Civic Tire: Falken Finishing Time: 112.903
88 Honda Civic Tire: Kumho Finishing Time: 112.923
SO, hell looks like a civic really can keep up with a corvette!!!!!
Damn I love this sport!!!!

I'm not a national level driver...... so Not very close.
But I did get to run against the guy that got 3rd in STS (National Championship) once though.
I was 2 seconds slower. so Im not that far off.
I am going to try a couple of national events this year though. I was thinking of doing the Season opener for the National tour down in Arizona and mybe a couple of Pro Solo events.
