Hey. My friend owns a stock 1988 Honda CRX HF manual. I own a stock 2003 Honda Civic EX automatic. If I were to race him who would win? I've been looking around to see how much horsepower his CRX has but I can't find a good resource. My friend said he has 180 HP but I don't believe him. Both our cars are stock...
Probably a typo.
Think about it... do you think he'd ask if he could win against a smaller/lighter car with 180HP? That's like asking would a stock 7th Gen beat a stock Celica GT-S.
EDIT: Just occured to me. He could have a JDM B18C (GS-R engine) under the hood... and it can be "stock."
Otherwise yeah... he could be BSing you.

I know it could be interpretted either way. But when the adjective goes before the entire car, like the original post was, it means that the entire car is stock. To be what you're talking about, it would've said an '88 CRX HF with stock engine.
It's all in the wording

Oh yeah, the CRX Si has 108 hp so he myte not have a HF afterall they myte have mixed up with 108 to 180. Heh. Or either that, he myte have a CRX HF with a CRX Si engine. Bah'... There are endless possibilities...
2003 ex-26?? pounds CRX is what 1800 pounds even with 98 hp he has the weight and the tranny advantage lets look at it
CRX
1>lighter
2>not a slushbox
Civic<assuming its a EX>
1>more torque i think
@>slushbox thats gonna slow you down
bet on your friends car

still weight advantage and the standard tranny unless the clutch is seriously burnt thats still 400 pounds of difference i dont know if 19hp and 14 lbs of torque is gonna help ya much with that big of a weight difference
Yeah, how about gearing, stock ECU tuning, tyres, tyre size, whether these guys know how to drive, road conditions, weather conditions, anything in the trunk other than a spare tyre.
I dunno, a stock automatic Civic is a 17 second car while a 5-speed can be as much as 1 second faster.
An CRX 5-speed... dunno. Around the track in circles I'd put my money on the Rex.

I don't know. I have a 1991 Civic (manual) and wieghs 2255 with intake and exhaust. My dad has tried to keep up with me with my 2001 Civic LX but he can't.
Zell... Remember the tyme when I showed you the places where you can race? Remember how I said that I couldn't keep up with you and you weren't even racing me? Yeah... It's that slow...
And if you think about it, the 1991 Civic had a newly swapped engine @ approx 35k miles on it.
I'd put my money on the 7th gen.
