Bottoming Out is fun

oh **** ... ok, so I was driving around my area with my g/f tonight ...

ok, so this light turns yellow ... and I am close enough where if I downshift (I'm going about 40 mph) ... but if I just run it, I'll miss it. So I decide to downshift to 2nd and floor it ... vroooooooom ...

...

then I see it. There was a huge ditch where I can already see where other cars had bottomed out. Oh my ****ing g... BOOM!!! ... I brake hard and my car is swerving ... then I manage to control it.

I immediately sunk my head down and parked in the nearest parking lot. A yellow lancer came by with an older couple asking if we were alright ... I told them that I had bottomed out big time ... and they're like "yeah we know ... we saw it" T_T;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

****.

Ok, so I pop my hood ... no damage ... though I didn't think there would be damage in the engine bay anyway ... the car hit so hard that my big ricer broadway mirror fell off.

I look over at the bumper ... no damage ... good thing. I slowly peek my head under my bumper... wtf? hardly any damage. Just some scratches ... some scratches on the chassis ... but they're not deep ... no dmg to the cat or exhaust or anything ... looked at the back of the car under the bumper ... no dmg.

Whew!! ... from what I can tell .. there was hardly any damage! ... GOOD ****in thing that my car isn't lowered ... damn. Hopefully there isn't some crazyass broken piece that I didn't notice ... or that I didn't see ... maybe I'll wake up tomorrow, start my car and find out that my motor mount shattered .. haha ... -_-;;;;

Only thing id really worry about is cracking the oil pan. I had a friend that did that and the smart guy that he is drove another 50-100 miles with NO OIL! So yeh, in the morning, just make sure there isnt a puddle under your car and you should be okay

Yea oil pan and tranny are the things to check. I had a pic of a 6th gen with a good bit of tranny missing cause he bottomed out.

But its always nice to expect alot of damage and find out theres none. A year ago someone rearended me doing about 7-10 mph, the whole car jumped foward, i get out expecting the back to be all f***ed up, but there wasn't even a scratch. The only thing that pissed me off was that the other guy got out of his car with a big smile on his face. Im thinkin "Your about to get punched in the side of the head, we'll see how long you smile"

I had a friend that did that and the smart guy that he is drove another 50-100 miles with NO OIL!
You think thats bad, i knew a guy in college who drained his oil, since he was in the process of changing it, and SOMEHOW forgot to put more oil in, so he drove it for a little and then came to school saying his engine seized for no reason.
