Unhappy I ****ed up bad...

*warning, its kinda long... summary at bottom*

Okay, heres a little background info first. I'm in the Air Force, and i got stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo Texas. Well, I've been here for about 10 months or so, and for the first 9 months I was here, I didn't see any car enthusiasts. Well I found out about a strip in an adjacent town, so I went one Friday, about a month ago. Well I met another guy who has a 7th gen civic, so we talked. He had some wheels for sell and I was interested, so we exchanged numbers. Later on we went cruising and stuff, and he introduced me to a group of people. I think its all the car enthusiasts around, just a small handful or people. Well last Wednesday, I painted his wheels... this black color... looks tight... anyway, back to the story... Well to show em off after I got em on, we went cruising, but nobody was out. So we went to one of his friends house, and a lot of people were hanging out there. Well after chilling for a few hours, we all decinded to go cruising... about 6-7 cars. So off we headed... not knowing the usual cruise path that these guys take, I was taking directions from the guy in the passenger seat. Well we were off to a nice little start, and low and behold... we stumbled across a red light, 4 lanes wide. So what do we do? Being the bunch of dumb-***, rice-munching, punks we are... we lined em up 4 wide at the light. I was in the far right, a black Si beside me, and two neons beside him... The others fell in line as a second row. Well the guy in the Si looked over and said, wanna run em? So I said sure... His Si runs 16.4, and I run 16.7. Everyone says I had a chance of beating him, cause hes not the best driver... so I was up for a challenge. Light turned green... We all stomped it. He spun, I hopped... We both jumped ahead, and I just pulled his *** like nothing... So yeah, I beat the Si. Well I pulled it back and started cruising again, as the speed limit dropped from 45 to 35. I pulled back to about 40. Well we went across this bridge as I was slowing down, and at the end of it, there is a light. Then it goes up a little hill and there is another light... its a REALLY small block... Well the guy with me told me to get over in the left lane, so I did. Then he said no, the far left lane... so I started moving over futher... then he goes, "OH ****!!! Dude, hes getting pulled!" So I'm like WHAT? ****!
Then the guy with me says, "Dude, hes coming for you."
"****, really?! What do I do?"
"Just pull over here" With that, I proceed to take a left at the next light, and then pull into an empty parking lot, where I parked, applied the handbrake, and waited for the officer. He then pulled up, approached me, asked me to get out, told me to put my hands on the trunk, pushed me to the back of the car, cuffed me, and pushed me over to the front of his car. I got placed in the back of another officers car, and then taken to the station. The officer came in and charged me with Exhibition of Acceleration, Contest of Speed, and Evading Arrest/Detention in a vehicle (Felony).

:\

*So yeah, I got arrested for street racing. Then officer is saying that I tried to run too. It's such BS*

My insurance is going to go up to 5,000 ever 6 months, which means I will have to sell my car.

Also, tonight, there was a group of cars driving recklessly, and I got pulled cause I drive a white car, and someone called in a complaint on a white car. The cop made a crack about me not trying to run, then said he saw me driving recklessly through a light. A light that I stopped at. :\ ****ing ****head.
So now I'm getting blamed for someone else. I wasn't even with a pack of cars. I'm so tired of being harassed. I needed to vent.

It's reasons like this why I only race at a track. I don't even joke around on the street anymore. It's just not worth it.

Nevermind the fact that the dumbass that posted this was the one racing. I don't want to hear any of this being fair **** either, he was racing, he deserved it, bottom line. I'm glad you have to get rid of the car so you don't end up killing someone. Harsh? Yeah, but that's what you get.

I feel for you bro. Get a good lawyer and youll probably get hooked up. Its even better your in the military he'll use that to get them to be even more lenient on you. I wouldnt worry about it until its over. And ignore all these guys who talk $hit about deserving it you werent resisting arrest. A lawyer will definitly get rid of that.

This reminds me of an older thread, when street racing was brought i admitted to street racing and was flamed by everyone and their mom.

But ive noticed a pattern, when its convienent EVERYONE will renounce street racing as a immature childish act usually when someone posts a story about 2 kids being killed in street racing. But all the people doing the flaming have street raced, drove recklessly or sped at one point or another. As for nrrhgreg and rgGolf4 i hope you get a ticket for doing 42 in a 40, why?? because you were speeding, you deserved it, bottom. Everyone brakes the law, so unless your the pope and have never broken any law, then i don't wanna hear this "he deserved it" BS

Give me a break, that is so ****. Sometimes people make mistakes, prohbation should be his only term. As well as a traffic school and community service. But the fact that they charge all this money out the *** is so absurd. Our governmental system is soooooooo ****ed up. People get thrown in jail and familys are torn apart because of drugs mean while true theft and murders go on happening daily. Give me a ****ing break, I cant believe Police actually think they are helping out society. We need much stricter policys regarding police abusing power. Especially in regards to traffic situations, its so hard to judge. They should provide courts with film of the incident taking place we are a far to advanced society to just take an officers word for it. Most police cruisers have cameras these days, so its not like it would be a hard thing for courts to require.

I think the more fitting thought should be will the punishment fit the crime, not whether or not he deserved it. Obviously, he was guilty of street racing. That point is not contested. And he has not been tried yet, so blaming society or the government for his punishment is a bit premature. Yes, his insurance will go up, but that is because he is a bigger risk. By sheer virture of statistics, he is a more at risk driver.

Now the fact of life is that when you do something wrong, you risk getting caught, and getting punished. There is no need to point fingers or cast dispersions, he will pay for this. If a lesson is learned along the way, then it will be worth it.

I do have a serious problem with deciding that some crimes should be left unpunished. As a society, we established laws which decide what is legal and what is not. That is not a topic which can be easily argued.

Street racing is now a very visible topic. People have been killed. Sure, more are killed in other ways, I won't argue that. But can you argue that a death that resulted from street racing is okay? People are not perfect. We all break some laws. I say that I am sorry that you are about to learn a lesson the hard way.

Word b*tch . everyone needs to back up off of him. We all make bad choices once in a while. Let he who has not raced cast the first flame . Street racing, while illegal is the least of my daily worries. There are people out there raping murdering and robbing meanwhile john q **** in his *** law is more interested in arresting and harrasing kids because he knows that we have no money for good attorneys, most of us wont question what he says out of fear, and he can get away with whatever he wants because we arent fully aware of our rights and the limitations of his power. in the words of NWA, F**K THE POLICE!

thanks to everyone who is being so supportive. and to all those ****ers that just want to talk ****... all those people that get killed while street racing... did they get killed flooring it from a light, getting up to about 55 mph, then slowing down and stopping? hell no, its the idiots that go 110 mph down some back road, or 130 down a crowded highway.

I KNOW I ****ED UP. I KNOW i shouldnt have been "racing". I admitted that. The point is, the officer is saying that I tried to run, which i DIDNT. And now they are harrassing me too, blaming me for **** i didnt do. My god, the street racing thing was just a one time thing anyway, every time someone asks me, i say, lets take it to the track... Ive probably had more friends die in car accidents in the past three years than everyone added together thats replied to this thread. SO BACK THE **** OFF. ive already got a bunch of power-hungry pigs, poking and proding at me. I dont need you too.

But once again, thanks to everyone else thats being so supportive.

I've talked to my parents and my bosses, and they all recomend getting another car. Either selling mine, or putting it in storage. I cant afford to waste a $330 car note every month, so my only real option is to sell. Don't worry though, I'll probaby stick with civic. I'm thinking of maybe a nice 96-98 hatch. ;P Unless im serving 5 years in prison and paying $10,000 restitution.

You know, if I did get a ticket for going 42 in a 40, I wouldn't come on here and bitch about it. I'd nut up and pay the fine like you're supposed to, because the fact of the matter is that I was breaking the law. And I have never street raced. It's a ****ing retarded thing to risk your life for, especially when you drive a damn civic.

So your telling me youv'e never street raced, never sped, never tailgated, never cut someone off, never disobeyed a traffic sign, and always used your blinker??? If you are guilty of any of these then you have no room to lecture other people about their mistakes. Besides its his life, you risk your life every time you get in the car so don't try to say street racing leads to a death everytime. And when compared to drunk driving or speeding the fatalities caused by street racing are small. Now if he was trying to race in 5 PM traffic, id have to agree with you as he has the right to risk his own life but not the lives of others.

I know how you feel man, I'm currently in the middle of some serious **** myself. I got pulled over on the 4th of July weekend, I was going 43 in a 45. I honestly didn't know what I was being pulled for. Turns out I briefly made a wrong turn and went back to my lane, I didn't get over for maybe 6 inches. Cop was yelling at me, screaming in my face about aggressive driving, tailgating, (when I inadvertently moved over a little, the guy that was waiting there took a right, thinking i was going to turn) failure to maintain lane, assaulting a driver with a vehicle. He impounded my car also. No offer of a ride home, I had to talk with a shitload of groceries and a clothes hamper full of clothes. When the cop impounded my car, the tow guy was like "ooh, a corvette.." the cop responded "Yep, another one off the road" He lied on his report too. So I'm sitting here charged with aggressive driving (equivalent to DUI in Georgia), failure to maintain lane, tailgating, reckless driving, among other things. Yeah, I have an attorney. I pulled over at a bank so I am hoping there is video. So yeah, I know what you are going through. Good luck.

Live and learn man . It's a sad fact of life that people only learn once they experience it.

This is a rather *harsh* way to learn, but oh well.

Good luck with the trials man.

Reading comprehension > you. I said I never street raced, didn't mention any of that other stuff. I've gotten tickets before, and I paid them, didn't bitch. That's basically what I'm saying more than anything. I hate when all these whiney bitches get on here and bitch about getting a ticket. Guess what moron, regardless of what you may think, you broke the law, you deserved it.

Bottom line of this story is that he was in the wrong place doing the wrong thing at the wrong time....whats done is done. The best thing to do now is go get a lawyer and hope you get a good one because they can work miracles...

damn bro wish u the best ... a lawyer will definitely help out. when i got caught i ended up with like 7 charges. after going to court only 2 stayed since all the charges are about the same thing.. racing, speeding...whatever. lawyer cost $500 but it was worth it for some of the bullsh!t charges that they had on me. also take a driving course so it can help out with the points on your license and insurance costs.

I never said i wasnt street racing. Ergo the whole, i screwwed up. I'll admint to the contest of speed, but the exhibition of acceleration wasnt me, i didnt spin ****, and the evasion... i didnt either. i ****ing pulled over and waited. and the point also is that im being harassed. I was stopped at a light for like 2 minutes. And then i got pulled and the cop said i was driving recklessly through the light. :\

i was going like 5 mph through the light for christ sake.
