What size should I get!? 17's 18's or 19's?
I've been reading around this site and i've noticed that people love 19's on their civics. I'm sure 19's would look really good on my car, but I drive alot and I like to race every now and then. Would 19's be ok, or is it better to go smaller?

not the best forum to post this topic in but i would say go smaller if you go to the track or keep your stocks with some good tires on them. i ran my car with my 17s and still had trouble. will definally throw my 16s or 15s on next time.

15'S!!!!!!!! cant go wrong with them (I'd run 13's if I could, for racing any way).
any way I have a set of 17's for the street, I use to Autocross with them , but the 15's are oh so much better...

yeh, if you want bigger rims (whether it's cuz you have a big brake kit or whatever)...yeh some forged 17's...the 5zigen F501-r (?) or something liek that is pretty light, so are the velox progear series wheels, the rev-8C's look pretty good and it's like 11.5 lbs (?). Hell, if you really wanna go light, get the spoon SW581 (?) they're like 8.5 lbs for 15's and about 12 for 16's. BUT, all these wheels are gonna cost AT LEAST 1500-2000 for wheels alone, no lugs no tires.
tires are completely up to ur style. if u want 19s, ur civic will hav a harder tym pushin ur car cuz itz big and heavy. ppl tend to get 17s jus cuz they look good and they not too big. i hav 17s and they pretty ok fo me. i heard 15s & 16s r fo mo serious racers cuz smaller tires they good for racing, but itz all up to u. if u lookin to win or lose not-so-shamefully, then jus get smaller tires like 15-17s. good luck! oh yah check out the racing hart C5s =)
man, just keep the stock wheels on your car if you wanna go fast, no need to spend money. Just take the hub caps off, provided you have a 2k1-2k2 honda screwed us 2k2 EX owners over by giving the 2k3s Rims.... f*cking honda
hi, people
there is one thing I don't understand...
people keep saying the stock 15" is lighter. Isn't ALLOy wheels suppose to be lighter than stoke IRON/steel wheel?
I get a set of advanti racing wheels, 17" and I am so sure it is lighter than stock by somethig like 3 Kg (6.6lb) per wheel.
something wrong with my 17" wheels?? (hollow???)

Stock Steelies are 18-19 lbs
My 15 rota Slipstreams are 11.8
The only reason people are saying to keep the Steelies is becaus most people buy larger Heavier cast wheels, so then the Steelies would be lighter.
like my street 17's they weigh 22lbs each.
By the way Diemom the 99-00 Si Rims are 16.5 lbs (03 EX 2 Dr., same wheels) so they are lighter then the Steelies too.
all weights are thanks to Boilermaker1 and his So you want to know about rims? -- Newbies Read

It all depends on what you want, and if you want you can switch out your 19s for your stock wheels when you are going to race. Just dont use it as an excuse when someone asks to race you, otherwise you will look like a dork.

Size does matter. If you go with a tire that has a larger Overall diamiter then stock, then you will accelerate even slower over stock. if you go with a tire that is smaller then stock then you have an advantage and will accelerate quicker then stock (All other things being equal)
example, I have an EX coupe. stock it came with 185/65-15. My race tires are 205/50-15, and with them I accelerate 5.47% quicker. IF I had 19's not only would I have to deal with the extra weight but with the 215/35-19 tires that are recomended I also have to over come a 1.93% decreace in acceleration. so you with your 19's vs me with my 15's (Disregarding weight and assuming both cars were equal in every other way) My car would accelerate 7.4% quicker.

Inertia makes a huge difference in this. The majority of the weight is going to be on the outside of the rim. The farther from the center it is, the more force it will take to turn. Thats wasted torque (Torque = Force*Radius) that you could have been using to move the whole car, not get your wheels rolling. Inertia is a function of mass and the square of the radius.... so for each inch you increase, you're actually increasing the inertia by a square.... making it much tougher for the car to turn. So despite my 17's weighing in at a scant 15 lbs, my 16.5lb Si rims still make the car faster.

If you run on your stock steelies your braking will suffer a lot. Rims act as a device to disperse the heat, therefor your brakes will not heat up as much with rims and you will be a lot better off.
