Civic Si vs 92 Mustang

I have a stock Si.. but if i were to get a I/H/E and raced my friends stock 92' 5.0 Mustang.. Do you think I would have a chance against him? Oh and by the way, hes automatic.

Ya. Unless you plan on getting a turbo or completely built up you motor, you dont have a chance. Of course if he cant drive, you could.

eh well, the current V8 GT Mustang runs the 1/4 in 14.8 seconds. A Civic Si does that 15.2? And from my understanding the 5.0s were very slow unless modified. I cant imagine 5.0s being faster than current GTs. Id imagine you stand a fairly good chance.. especially if you have I/H/E. I imagine the race the will close

new si would do around 15.4 to high 15. my friends 5.0 has mass torque..
just race him for fun

you must not know anything about the new gts...they run very low 14's stock...and I have seen some break into the 13's. seriously people dont post something unless you know what the hell you are talking about. And for the person that said.."well its auto so"...not all cars that are auto are slower than their manual counterparts....just your econoboxes..and a few others.

my last time at the track i raced a new mustang gt that ran a 13.8 and i ran an 90 5.0, auto that ran a 15.4

my si ran a 16.0 stock, w/ i/h/e - 14.9

you might have a chance, if you know how to drive it.

^^^^ I'm sorry but that 5.0 driver did not know how to drive then, if he can't break 15's, even with the auto.

its not hard to drive an auto, just push the gas.

the car is to heavy, not the drivers fault.

I really dont think there is any other way to say this to you. You are wrong... you are just spouting incorrect facts. So you must infact know nothing about them. They run High to mid 14s stock. And most cars that are auto are slower than their manual counterparts, sure they may shift faster but they have less horsepower because of the simple fact that it requires energy to power automatic transmissions. I think you are making reference to 3spd Autos that have no reverse and are designed for drag racing, those are faster than manuals, but 90% of autos are slower than their manual counterparts, including your beloved Z-28. I dont know why people who come on here with faster cars always speak as though their word is divine. Give me a ****ing break.

If the mustang has a worn tranny, you know the one that slips right after 40mph like my friend's 71 vette lol. Then you'll spank him as long as your car goes over 40-50mph. Just though I'd share lol.

You can never be too sure because I've seen 5.0's run anywhere from high 13's to low 15's at the track. I will say that your SI is not likely to win sorry. I agree with imurmilk. SI runnin 14.9 best should be weary of a car that can potentially hit 13's is all Im sayin. too many variables for a definite answer though. I'd say go for it and then post the results.

such attitude......regardless of the times some people post and the times you say you've seen the cars run....take into account weather. you cant compare slips and expect to have a comparison..there are to many other factors. I agree that he will loose unless there are problems with the mustangs run. But anything could happen. I've seen a well built up 89 mustang with a **** load of $$ into it run high 14's cause the car is just worn out. Anyways.....the car in question stock should be running high 14's in average conditions, at average altitude. Are you gunna argue me too?

nah not gonna argue with what you said...cause you are correct with those times...I just argue when I know I'm right..and that is that the new gt's are running low 14's..im not talking about the older ones. look im not trying to pump up the mustang or make it look good..I hate mustangs..its just I dont like false information being thrown around...btw sorry for gettin an attitude with whoever it was I was arguing with

hey i love attitude so dont need to applogize to me. The entire reason i read this section first is cause this is where all the smack talk goes on. I re-read your original post about the new gt's and you're right about your times too. THough i've seen a brand spankin new cobra pull off a 14.9 so i guess anything is possible in the hands of an idiot. Oh and btw...you're aloud to hate mustangs, we all do...i get over it knowing that my car will be running long after the new stangs are put to rest. You can be proud that your car is by NO MEANS the piece of ****, all look the same, american-but most the parts are made in mexico, red-neck driving mustang that has become the staple for old fashioned hicks, dumb *** college kids, and soccer moms alike.

Ps.. i want your car

If you get the I/H/E and NOS then I'd say yes, but without NOS or Turbo, I dont think so.
