A. you probably should have shifted to 3rd.
B. a stock 1.8T is still within a civic's grasp, but the jetta is a bit quicker.

I think s2000man means bone stock NA vs. trubo the NA is being able to have a chance, which I too will have to disagree with him on.
The turbo'd VW will kill any NA civic modfied or not

Bone stock 1.8T jettas run in the high 15's range. Even the GTI is a mid 15's range car stock. Within the civic's grasp may have been too loose a term.

edit: pardon my information was incorrect. both the 1.8T GTi and 1.8T Jetta run very similar times. those times are generally low 15's which is out of a civic's range. the 1.8T GTI can also hit some 14's with great drivers.

lol.. yep.. Ive taken a few turbo jettas from the dig and the roll, the freeway is where it's really difficult.. I could only hang like 3 or 4 cars back up to 110 or so.. then at like 120 that same race he hit maybe 5 cars on me..
BUt there was a 1.8t jetta goin along eldrigde road one day and I wanted a challnege, I put a freakin bus length on him..
Not to far. it depends on driver and type of race..

Well first I never said I was expecting to beat him since i have 115hp and he has 180hp plus he has the turbo and i dont. Im just saying im suprised by how much he beat me!
The only race i ever lose was to a 1.8T and it was off the line. I got him off the line and after that he pulled half car lenth then when i switched i pulled ahead alittle and then i slowed down for the speed limit. I don't think there that fast and thats cause i don't race on the highway cause your already going fast enough.
You can beat a 1.8T Jettas with a 5 speed from 0.
But if you try to catch one in a freeway, is imposible.
Jettas are considerably heavier than civics.
They start slow considering the turbo lag and its cheap transmission.
Theres a 1.8T stock Golf that could´nt beat me in 1/8.
The owner of the golf doesnt know how to run it but there still is a big difference in hps.
They sell here in Mexico a car called Leon 20v 1.8T (from SEAT) that can beat New mustangs with its 1.8T cus of its weight and its 6 speed transmission.

My mom just had a brand new(350mi) vw beetle turbo auto cause her non turbo beetle auto broke down again(not at all surprized) and i drove it and i kno for sure my car(03 lx 4 door manual) could beat it. The beetle turbo is rated 150hp 163tq weighing in around 2800lbs. It has good power in first but second is **** and the auto kills it. It doesnt feel like other turbo cars i have driven. Almost feels like its na except for the turbo sound. I even timed it with my stopwatch(i kno its ghetto but it gives you a in the ballpark figure) and it took 8 seconds to get to sixty. After sixty mph the beetle has very little pull left(no top end).
