i think it depends on where you live and how the car scene there has portrayed itself to the police. for example, we have a local forum here called louisvillestreets, everyone meets on friday and saturdays, but the cops dont bother and seem to respect us because we always clean up, dont cause trouble, and theres no stupid stuff like doing donuts and burnouts. hell, every saturday night, 11th street gets blocked off and bikes race all night, cops dont really care as long as theres no cars doing it. (the roads narrow) like i said i think its how the whole seen has been portrayed to the police, if theyve seen the fast and the furious though, you might as well forget it
Unfortunetly you will run into this kind of stuff no matter what part of the country you're in. Some places worse then others. Like someone stated before, "you can thank The Fast and the Furious" for that. It's kinda weird because when I had my mustang, that was about 3 times louder then my civic, the cops never bothered me. It was a 5.0 with 3inch exhaust and NO cats. So much louder. I'm tempted to get another one so I won't get hassled anymore.
Look at my car and TELL ME why cops love to pull me over? I have the worst f**king luck with cops when I'm 1) by myself 2) out cruising with friends and NEWLY 3) Even when I go to our group meets!!! It's ridiculous, everyone hates on my lights, I don't even drive crazy when cops are around.

I have never been hassled for anything on my car except my blinkers (cleared). Oh well, guess murders and robberies rank 2nd to most police officers after picking out petty crap on peoples cars...

HEHE yea I have never had a problem here in birmingham, but its cause i work witha buncha city cops and most of em tell me if i ever to get pulled over i kan name drop n get out of it.. hehe the one whos a sgt even told me she'd come and let me go if i ever got stopped for street racing! Hows that for connections.
Cops job is to profile people, although they will never admit it. They are trained to watch for "problem signs" I.E. Body Kits Wings and lights etc.
Cops hassled people long before the first Civic graced this countrys roads. Where I live it was actually illegal to have a rear bumper more than 2" higher than the front bumper so people would stop pro-streeting there muscle cars.
As for the problem about Fast and Ferious is it drawe public attention. Therefore cops have to do there job. Only some cops take there job much to far and make sitiuations worse than they already are.
Now remeber I live in Utah where street racing isn't really all that big compaired to other areas but the main Urban Industrial parks around here I think the cops out number the buildings at night.
So we race in the Rural areas and hardly ever get bothered or only told to leave when we get busted up.
As for Imports get harrased more than Domestics... I've seen it happen the other way around so don't feel bad.
