A short time ago, Paul from Customauto.ca/B&T dist. advertised a group buy for the RS Type B front lip for $100.00 shipped in the continental United States. So I agreed to buy the LIP for $100.00. Sounded like a great deal. Just to make sure, I sent an e-mail confirming the price, and in his own words...
"yes you can. please fill out an order on the website and under promotion code put 7thgencivic.com sales@customauto.ca is my paypal id or I can send you a money request."
So I sent the money via paypal. A few days later I get an email saying "I sent you a refund on that, you should get it soon" without even explaining anything. So after a week of trying to contact him, he says he refunded the $100.00 because his representative gave a wrong price on the forum. So this would be no biggy, except I'm out $21.00 for a bank overdraft fee ( I did not have enogh money in my account) I exlained I would of been fine with the $21.00 fee from my bank PROVIDING i got the lip. But no, instead of asking me to pay another $25.00 (he said the price was supposed to be $125), he gave me a refund. And he does not want to either a) Refund the $21.00 for the inconvenience he caused me, or b) discount the lip to $104.00 and I will resubmit payment through paypal. Beware, this seller is shady. Bad communications, bad business.

seems like its entirely your fault, especially since you were aware you didnt have that much money in your account to begin with. don't blame paul, the rest of us are getting our lips.

Yes, I asked Paul and he told me it is unreasonable for you to pay his overdraft because you don't have enough money in your bank. Don't blame Paul.

I have enough money, the bank covers up to $400 for me, I did it on purpose. Like I said, I would of been fine with the $21 fee (providing I GOT THE LIP) (and i did this KNOWINGLY) but now that the refund has been issued, I am out $21. I believe it is his fault. Why couldn't he have just sent a request for additional money? Even if there was no overdraft fee, paypal DOES take a percentage out when you receive money, AND I went through the inconvenience of contacting this guy back and forth and stressing over it. BAD BUSINESS PERIOD! Ever heard of FALSE ADVERTISING? Customauto.ca is SYNONOMOUS
Paul, and customauto were absolutely wonderful to work with. I couldnt of asked for a smoother transaction, and Paul was an awsome guy to talk with.
I placed my order for the lip on a wednesday, and i got my lip two days later on that friday! The packaging was great as well.
Dont let this one guy put bad thoughts in your mind.

It's proper business etiquette that you HONOR any price that was/is advertised -- not to mention the PRICE was reiterated in VERBAL form via e-mail. Whose to blame for the qouted price of $100 shipped?

If you didn't have the money in your account, why would you bother ordering?
Plus from what i gathered during the group buy, everyone was properly informed through the thread about the change in price. I was considering getting one myself but decided to hold off.

I got payed the following week so I didnt care. The money in my account thing isn't an issue, the bank will cover up to $400 for me as long as i pay it off. Stop dwelling on that. The point is this guy qouted me $100.00, I payed it, and he went back on his word.

dude you guys dont know how an overdraft protection works... say you have $50 in the bank... he buys something thats $100. you say the check is going to bounce and the seller isnt going to get his money.. FALSE. seller gets his money. buyer now has -$50 plus the $21 overdraft fee so now he owes the bank $71.
either way seller gets the money.
i kinda have to go either way on this. yes he should have gone on his word but then again he also did refund it. its hard to say. if it was a good company, i think they should have gave him a lil discount or something. i always grew up thinking customer is always right(well to a certain degree) and this is one of those cases where ya they could have done a lil better in their transaction

I personally would check my priorities in life before buying a lip for my car....if I have no money in the account regardless of my overdraft protection I wont purchase anything until I can afford it...So...
1> Buyers fault. He counted on a product and used overdraft protection to pay for it. His money is his responcability.
2> Sellers partial fault. Seller could have lowered price but chose not to. They admited the mistake on the price, now depending on the cost of the lip from wholesale to them they may or may not be makign a lot of money and if they pay 105 dollars and their retail price to you is 120 but by accident post 100, they lose money. If it is a small business it hurts big time...so that would explain why no discount for the buyer.
Seller is not responcable for the buyers finances. Seller got his cut, and refunded it not knowing buyer had insufficient funds. No harm no foul on sellers part when it comes to the money matter. It is the buyers responcability to have sufficient funds in his/her bank account at all times.
The key word here is responcability ladies and germs. Seller could not hold up his end so gave back what he was given with his appologies.
Buyer is ticked because he cant manage his money well enough and decided to use his overdraft protection, something to use in case of emergencies not on a whim and wants the seller to pay for his lack of funds.
No dice... Customauto.ca/B&T dist. is not shady at all....no company I can see would ever take a hit for a customer's stupidity unless they made a huge mistake.

Now I understand what you're saying MangoEX. And I'm with VNlilMAN when I say I have to go either way.
I have a question though. Were you even in the group buy? There's a list and I don't see your name in it.

I emailed Paul about it, and like I qouted in his own words "Sure you can get it, i'll send you a money request" The money request is for $100.00. And don't worry about my finances, I do quite well, and all my bills are always paid on time, I wanted the lip, knew I was short on money but ALSO knew I was getting paid on the following Friday, so no biggy to me. I wouldn't normally blame him for my overdraft fee (as I stated I was willing to ACCEPT the fee as LONG as I got the lip) and I was pretty excited waiting and waiting for it to come in the mail, then Paul sends an email saying "I sent you a refund on that" ... Those words only, explaining NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING else. Second email... same thing "you should have the refund, check your pay pal acct" by this time, i STILL have no clue in hell what he is talking about. I had to drag it out of him that his guy advertised a wrong price, so then I was pretty frusterated. All that waiting + NEGATIVE $21.00 = dissapointment with customauto.ca. Why couldn't he have sent me another request for $25.00? I would of paid it gladly. Yes there would of been no $21.00 if I would of had more funds, but even then ITS STILL INCONVENIENT to deal business this way. Proper business should give the customer a discount for ANY inconvenience. And my car... is...

He made a mistake. The wrong price was advertised. He refunded your money. He didn't know that you went into your overdraft. It's not his fault. You took a chance and it backfired on you. Next time have money in your account and communicate better.

He gave you a refund for 100% the amount you paid him. What's so hard to understand?

He DID give you a discount, try go on to his website and buy it without a discount. It wouldn't be $125 anymore, more like $164 something. He's doing what he supposed to do, who knows if you're going to send another $25, perhaps you would if you had the money and pay all at once.

Again, lets say I didnt lose the money, what about the inconvenience this has caused me? Now I have to wait for ****ing paypal to refund my money (3-4 days) ON TOP of the time it took for him to respond and tell me I'm getting a refund. Anyone else sell these lips?

So if you would of had enough money to buy the lip without going into your overdraft I doubt you would be complaining. Everyone is human and therefore we all make mistakes.
But you are mad because you took a risk and it bit you in the but for going into your overdraft.

Paul wants me to pay him the full retail amount now. : - /
His conversation is over. You were not on the list as part of this deal so it really doesn’t matter. I quoted the final price for a select few and you are not on it. I owe you nothing. In fact with you not being on the list and following the purchase agreement on my website I think you should owe me the full retail amount for one.

It makes sense. That's what you get for waiting till the last minute and not getting on the list.
