to start it off, if you have the guts to do the whole process that includes, taking off the bumper, pulling out the headlights, and then taking it apart in order to clear them. then you have enough ***** to paint them. it just takes time is all. the only thing i was intimidated by from the DIY was taking off the bumper. but when i actually got into the installation myself, it was ridiculously easy and simple. just get some high temp paint. take out ur headlights. pull them apart. take out the orange piece. if you want to, mask the areas you want to leave chrome, and then just spray paint several coats on the chrome lens (letting each coat dry of course), and voila, your done. it's really really easy. just takes time is all.
It was really easy to paint the headlight housings. I got my tips from Fraga. Also, the parts that you leave chrome (mask) are up to you. I chose to mask any part that surrounded a bulb, for optimum reflection
(sounds cheesy). Its like clearing the headlights, except primer them and put on a couple of coats of paint... you'll be fine. If you are still worried, buy a set from your local junkyard or a seller for cheap and play with those. Thats what I did, that way you still have your stock ones if anything goes wrong.
Warning: Be careful with masking tape... it will pull up the chrome if you are not careful.
