I bumped a 5th gen!
Hey guys, just this past weekend, some friends and I were in Grand Bend.. I am from Ontario BTW.. And everyone comes here and drives up and down the strip, so its a pain in the bum to drive because you keep stopping and going. Anyway, I was following my buddy and this girl called my name so by reaction, I look over and semi-smile then continue driving slowly, following my friend. The girl then calls my name a second time and lemme tell you.. Bad move!
My friend in front had stopped and I bumped into him!
The bump was fairly loud so we got out of our cars
(holding up the abundance of cars waiting to drive) and we took a look at the damage
.. There was none on my car but it appeared that I pushed in his rear bumper..
So we drive up a bit and pull into a parking lot to take a closer look. I knew I'd have to redo a paintjob on his rear bumper for him, but I wasn't sure about the rest of the stuff (actual metal piece of bumper being bent)..
A couple days went by and he got an estimate today from the guy who painted his car
.. He wants 675 bux (Canadian)
and I think thats total garbage because I guess hes going to replace the metal piece of bumper (part of the frame) and I think it could just be banged back into place
.
I just wanted to post and see what you guys thought I should do!
Because I don't really want to pay that much when I know his **** can be fixed for alot less and without replacing that piece of frame!
:zbsflag:
So tell me what you think! And to reassure the 7th gen owners again, this did no damage to my car. Thanks in advance!

if i was him, i'd get a second opinion on the damage. however, if you did in fact bend the metal, he should get a new one because banging it back would probably reduce the bumper's strength, and could screw him over should he get into an accident

I was talking 675 with the new piece and the bumper repainted and remounted.. I don't think the piece is bent enough for anything bad to happen if it were banged back..

How much is too much to bang the piece back into place.. I mean, its not like its totally damaged or anything, its just bent up a little bit.. Its kinda ****ed because his car has 450,000 kms on it and I dunno if its worth 675 bux to replace just the back bumper..
