Tint Issues!

I got my windows tinted about a week ago (5% rear three windows), and noticed that the tint is extremely uneven where we have the wide dot matrix strip on the top of the back windshield. Is this normal? I mean, I don't mind the white border around the dots, that's probably unavoidable, but I expected the tint to at least be even. On mine, its kind of patchy, some areas are dark (where the film is stuck on the dots), and some areas are lighter (where the film is disconnected from the dots). Like I said, all I wanted is for it to look clean and even. I have a one year workmanship warranty on my tint (and a lifetime warranty on the material) , but when I talked to the guy, he said there's absolutely nothing he can do about it. What I'd like to know is whether any of you guys who have your windows tinted have this problem with the dot matrix? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Cheers,
Dave

its only been a week...let it adhere first and that might take care of what i think your talking about...if its not better in a month or so, take it back and have them fix the tint due to labor imperfections

Take the car back to them and tell them you're unsure about it. Then wait about two weeks, see if the problem resolves itself, and then, if not, take it back and have it redone.

I worked at a tint shop for a while and sadly, the lack of adhesion on the area with the dots is pretty much unavoidable. The shop can do its best, but it can never guarantee the results. After some time, it will dry a bit better and adhere, but the dots prevent a solid transfer.

You should have waited another month to get the tint done so that you could of parked it under direct summer sunlight for a day or two. I did and never encountered this problem.

If you are going to take the tint back and they do have to take it off, chances are the rear defrost and radio antenna wires will come off too...or just patches of it. Typically, they're not covered by the shop's warranty if you want them to redo the job.

I had the shop that did mine put a strip of black vinyl over the top section on the outside. Actually looks very nice.

The shop that did my tint just cut the tint off at the bottom of the dot matrix. Its not noticeable. And i've not had any problems with it.

not if the shop 'bags' the window...

if this shop has any clue as to how to tint windows...they should also know how to redo a job, and 'bagging' the window is the best way to fix a tint redo on a window with a defroster
