Getting Bike...
Getting Bike...
i guess this is the correct forum for this, anyways, i am planning on selling the vic (i may keep it, i haven't really decided), and getting a street bike, and possibly some form of an old clunker to drive when its too cold to ride the bike, or raining, anyways, i have been looking for sometime now, and have decided on the bike i want, may not be able to get it though, but its the new 2003 Suzuki GSX-R600Z Team Suzuki Alstare 40th anniversary edition (only 1500 made, and i can reserve one as long as i come up with the deposit in the next coupla days, and i will be guranteed to get it)...yeah, i know it's only a 600, but i have never ridden a superstreet bike, have had a coupla dirt bikes, and have ridden a harley or two, but never a superstreet crotchrocket, so that's why i chose the 600 to get started on... seems like my entire ball team is getting them, 3 guys bought them this week, one is getting one next week, another is selling his to get a gixxer 1000, but i have been wanting one for a while, anyway, what you think of my choice of bike?
The 600 is a great bike. People will tell you that you have to get a 1000 to be a man or some bullshit like that. But the truth is the 600 handles a lot better and has more than
enough power. To me bikes are about going around corners. Any dipshit can nail the throttle and go fast. I have been riding for 9 years, have had everything from 250cc up to
1200cc street bikes. My two favorites have been an 125cc (aprilla 2 stroke that wieghed 212lbs..talk about a bike you could throw into a turn) and my yamaha r6. The bigger
bikes are cool if you ride in a straight line. But if I wanted to do that I would get a harley or harley wanna be. This is just all my opinion. but wanted to let you know that having a
600 is nothing to feel less about.

I almost ended up with an SV650 last summer. It was a 2000 and blue. It was in showroom new condition with very low miles. Unfortunately the deal never went thru. I was going to get a killer deal too for 1500 bucks plus a few things i had laying around for sale at the time. Im sorta glad i didnt get it now seeing what buying a motorcycle did to my friend financially. He had to ditch the bike and take a second job to be able to afford his condo and hes goin on 27 years old this june so hes not exactly a young guy trying to set himself up out of college or anything. He had a CBR-600 and he said that if you need any more than 600cc for regular street use then your crazy. There were times he felt that the bike actually had too much power for what he used it for. I couldnt imagine you even feeling safe on a 600 if its your first bike though. Thats a LOT of power to control being a beginner, i would definitely advise you to take some local training courses, your suzuki dealer should be able to arrange them for you. and good luck if you get it. But definitely dont ditch the civic, your monthly payments on teh bike wont be nearly as much as you think in teh long run. go for 5 years and make it really cheap.

would make me wish I had a harley. My cousins harley gets up to 160 (with speedo error it's probably closer to 150..but still) thats plenty fast for me. Cruising at 100 to 100 like I
usually do..the corners seem to come up on you pretty effin quick. The hyubusa is a big bike to compensate for small other things :-) Again..this is just my opinion.
From another twisty freak that agrees with Drnknmnky on this one... but I must add that today's 600 cc sportbikes are not beginner bikes. You gotta respect them just like a liter bike. If you're serious about learning to ride, buy an older 600 like a Honda F3 (excellent bike to learn on) or a 500 like a Suzuki GS. I'm an experienced rider, and like most of us will tell you that you will go down or you will drop the bike doing something stupid. Learn how to ride on something you can beat up before you wreck your brand new bike and end up paying thousands of $ on new fairings (fairings for your Suzuki will cost even more since it's limited).
Do yourself a favor and take the motorcycle safety course (call your local MVA or DMV). Also invest in a good helmet, leathers (jacket, pants & gloves) and boots. It may look expensive now, but they are a lot cheaper than a skin graph and the wonderful feeling of road rash.
Good luck and keep the rubber side down.

Damn, I can't find the thread I posted about the Hayabusa that was turboed and had nitrous. I even had a dyno of it pushing over 650 hp!!!!!!
That's the kind of bike I want.
Drnknmnky
sounds like it's time to upgrade to the R1.

you got your speed, less shifting if you want to cruise and man can that thing carve some corners!!!
Hyabusa, I'll admit... too much bike for me.
SV650 is a sweet v-twin, especially in the Suzuki blue!

besides, the gsx-r 1000 is faster through the traps than the busa, maybe after a long stretch the busa is faster, but through the traps, the gsx-r 1000 and the yamaha yzr r1 are the fastest... just figured you'd want to know...
i don't want an r6, i dont really like the styling of them, i have had my eyes set on a gixxer for a while now, but it wasn't until recently that i found THE one, my cousin (1st bike) just bought a gsx-r 1000, and my other cousin (also first bike) just bought a gsx-r 600... they were 2 of the 3 that bought bikes in the last week.... anyway, i drove my cousin's gixxer 600 and i love it, now if i can come up with the funds, i will be getting that gixxer 600 LE, it's fuggin sweet, and i know not many people will have bikes like mine... limited to 1500 remember, o, and i will be getting frame sliders the day i get it, also gonna get a yoshi CF pipe and a diff. color windscreen, and the place i am getting it from said they could hook me up with some rickey rocket gear (that's what i picked out today) and a shoei helment, since they can't cut the price below the MSRP like they can on a regular gixxer, but being that they can only get 1, maybe 2 then they cant cut it that much.... also, i know the shop owners, so they will hook me up pretty good on the safety gear.... o and i am also gonna get a wheel stand for it..... damn, i'm getting excited..... about 1 more month before they will have it... o i haven't putt a deposit down yet, cause i still gotta talk to insurance and the bank to see whats up, i was thinking bout dropping the vic cause i am only 20 so i'm betting the ins will be pretty high, my cousin that got the 600 got a pretty good deal on ins though i think its like 200 something a year, so maybe i'll get lucky as well.... but i will know in the next few days if i can get it or not, whether i can drop the vic or not.....
IMO i would not get the LE as a first bike, as most owners will drop their first rides. it would be a waste! get something used that you're ok with tearing up, as it's your first bike. move up when you're more experienced.

Honda oWns me!! RC51...
You can't go wronmg with a decent 600 tough.. The Suzuki isn't a bad bike; however, I'd take the R6 over that if I had to choose. Suzuki and Yamaha both have too much of a "race-ride" setup, meaning - you have to lean forward because the grips are so far forward = uncomfortable. IMO

i don't know what i want now, i thought about the gixxer long and hard, and talked to some guys i know that know a shjt load about bikes, and he said that buying that bike would be getting ripped off, sure, it'd be as rare as a spotted cat, but for the price i wouldn't be getting it at a good deal..... anyway, i am considering getting a used bike now, and i looked at the r6 again, and i like the 2k3 model, well the one in the link below anyway, that paint scheme is the shiznit...... so i may get an r6, but we're still looking....

Sounds like a fine choice to me. I have owned afew sportbikes and found I like the 600's better for goofing off. Like wheelies, stoppies, plus the insurance is a good bit cheaper too. Only advice I can give you is watch out for sand, gravel, and animals. Have a blast man!
going tomorrow (after going to play golf) to look at a brand new r6, black/red flames color scheme..... playing golf for free too, cause the course let you play free on your birthday..... muwhahaha

Re: Getting Bike...
If you want to getting a bike then I recommend Yamaha bike because Yamaha MT 10 price is quite reasonable. it is known for its powerful engine, sporty design, and agile handling, making it a great choice for riders who enjoy high-performance bikes and spirited riding. However, it may not be suitable for everyone. Consider factors such as your riding experience, intended use, and comfort preferences. Make sure to test ride the MT-10 and compare it to other motorcycles in its class to determine if it aligns with your riding style and requirements. Ultimately, the decision should be based on your individual preferences and what you're looking for in a bike.
