WOW! LOOKY HERE....

Okay,
I primed, painted, and clear coated my instrument plastic piece, the first piece that comes off, hard to explain, but if you've put in indigo gauges, you know the one i mean. I painted it brushed aluminum, pics to come! Here is were I need the help:
I want to do the trim pieces around the front heating vents, door handles, and possibly the center piece around the ac, radio. That one big piece. How do these come off? Do the door handle pieces just pry off? How about those vent pieces? I bought the alum. trim kit but am so impressed with how they came out painted, i'de like to try that first. anyone....., Someones got to know....
okay,
I need to elaborate, there is a diy on removing the center trim piece done by 01CIVICEX, but i'm still a little confused on how to do it, also how involved is it? sorry but the diy was a little lacking. Also, that little plastic piece inside the door handle, after i pry that off, and remove the two screws, does that hole plastic piece come off, or is it connected to the door panel itself? BTW I have a 2 door EX if that matters.

Hard to explain on how to do all that. Its a bit involved for some of the parts like the center console, but its more of a time thing than anything really. You look like you know what you are doing somwhat so you should be fine, just take your time doing it.

The center console, you need to pop off the bottom pannel where the power outlet is, it should just pull off, its held in with clips. Then you need to remove the screws that hold the two mounting pieces together. Once that is done you should be able to pry the whole center out, best bet is to push out from the inside until you can get your fingers around the edge and pull out, its held in with clips as well. Once thats out disconnect everything and you will be able to see how everything just unscrews and comes appart.

As for the rest I think the other guys could help out more as I never had to remove them ...... yet .......

well crashoveride got the center center piece down pat but for the doors just unscrew the two screws, pull the whole piece out and it will be connnected to a metal rod by a small plastic clip, unhook it and it pops right off,,,dfont forget to disconnect the power window piece on the drivers side but thats self explanatory..and the bolts behind the power outlet are 8mm if it helps

For the door handles, first you pop the flat panel out from behind the door handle to reveal two screws. Take the two screws out, and work the door handle out. There's no clips but it goes in there a certain way. After you have it removed, you'll have to pop out the rod for the door latch, and unplug the power lock switch. (if you have power locks)

For the section around the power window buttons, you need to find the screw that holds this piece on. Look where you grab the door to pull it closed (just behind the power window buttons) If you look at the bottom of that indention, you'll see a plastic flap that covers a screw. Pop the flap up, take the screw out, then pull. This piece is kinda hard to get because it's hard to get a good grip. you should be able to pop it out a little ways, then work it out the rest of the way. And of course you'll have to unplug the power window switch if you have em.

For the A/C vents, all you have to do is pull. There aren't any screws.....just clips. One way to do it is to face the vent to where it would be blowing down. And then you can get a decent grip on the bottom to pull.

I just recently painted all my stuff so if you have any questions about takin stuff off, feel free to ask before I forget. lol If you want to do a really good job, and don't mind taking all these pieces apart.......you can totally disassemble (sp?) them so that all you have to do is sand, wipe down, and paint. I did this to mine and I hardly had to use any masking tape. It's alot easier to paint, but it takes a bit longer to take everything apart. Good Luck and happy painting.

Chris2k1civic,
How did you paint the door panel, just mask it off, or did you remove that piece of the panel itself?
